planning a trip down the new jersey coast. any suggestions on marinas that i can spend a night.preferably a nice town with things to do.

Lots of great places to see and visit. When and for how long are you planning on going? How fast do you like to travel?

I heard that Belmar is very nice, and has good gas prices!

thanks mike. see u in a few weeks. mike C-DOCK.

We are planning a week down the shore this summer. Looking at Beach Haven and Point Pleasant.

Another weekend we will try the Channel Club in Monmouth.

Good live music at Trump Marina on Friday and Saturday nights in the summer.

Z- Not knowing how big your boat is, you need to build some time into your schedule for sea conditions if you are running the ocean (rough conditions)and the tide schedules if you are running the ICW (shoaling). I have heard that Beach Haven inlet is not advisable and Barnegate inlet may require some local knowledge. The Jersey Boys (pardon the pun) can chime in with local information.

I don't mean to sound alarmist but having done this a few times I know that mother nature sometimes does not cooperate.

FYI. We'll be down for a week hitting Atlantic City and Cape May/Wildwood.

Mark, when you planning for AC? We are still trying to decide what to do on our july 4th trip.
We want to hit channel club, but after that we are wide open!

running a 29'maxum. i might need to do some research b4 i go. start small. sandy hook. dont know the waters past there. thanx for your help. enjoy your trip. 2900 maxum scr. "wet dream"

A 4 day trip to AC from PB is doable but not a lot of fun. Long travel days or traveling every day doesn't give you much time to enjoy the sights.

Also, you have to pick your travel days when the weather is fairly calm as once you leave Sandy Hook you have about an hour run outside in the ocean before you can head back inside to the ICW. (Your boat can certainly handle it but in rough water you'll be less than happy)

The Channel Club is very nice for a 4 day trip.

Mike, I have cruising guides and charts you can borrow.

Dave,
No dates set yet but will likely be either 3rd week in July or 1st week in August.

Let me know when you will be at the Channel CLub since we want to go there at some point as well.

We were planning for the week before fourth of July. This was the plan:

June 27 Saturday – Channel Club - NJ
June 28 Sunday – Channel Club NJ
June 29 Monday – Channel Club NJ
June 30 Tuesday - Haverstraw
July 1 Wednesday - Haverstraw
July 2 Thursday - Haverstraw
July 3 Friday – Liberty Landing- NY
July 4 Saturday – Liberty Landing- NY
July 5 Sunday – Head for Home

But last I spoke to Walter he was not crazy about going south then going north. So we were looking to re-configure. We are open to suggestions.
