Florida Boat Choices

I think this is the boat I like!

That’s a great looking boat, and you can’t go wrong with the Yamaha. The one and only thing I would be hesitant about that particular boat is the colored hull. Colored hulls may not be the best choice in Florida, but other than that it’s the perfect boat.

I think the light blue is the only color I would do it Florida.
Remember I plan to do high dry.
I see alot of light blue hulls down there and they seem to hold up well.

Dave: That looks like a serious boat and if kept inside with a cover should do well in FL.

Was going to mention the colored hull. White is nice because it fades to white. That Ice Blue in the ad should be OK. Just not Red, Dark Blue, Dark Green, Black, etc. The one across from me is a medium gray and so far it's OK. Odd, Robalo seems to be a Brunswick company but NOT stuck with Mercury OB's like Whaler and SR when they had outboards, or MerC I/O's.

Bill. I had a 20' cat and didn't like it. Stable yes but slow and tilted the wrong way. It felt like it could trip in turns. The low tunnel pounded in seas.

been it lots of cat's. This tunnel hull is a different breed.

Reminds me of the OMC Trihull from the late 60's

I like the props being up in the tunnel and the thin water ability coupled with good offshore use. That's why I said 'especially' west coast of so. fl. In fac, if I were 10 years younger I would buy it because it would give me constant access to the gulf through my very thin water pass at Gulf Shores's Little Lagoon". Anyway being able to fish the flats in so. fl. in that size boat would be a nice feature.

A lot of the guided here use flats boats. My nex would be a panga style. Long bow to keep it down and cutting waves

Up here I would want a boat that can run to the 100 mile tuna grounds, hit the mid range 'snapper' areas, and fish the bay and back waters. Not many fir that use. Being able to make a day trip for tuna would be real nice. I don't have that kind of range in the Whaler regardless of weather, speed yes, range no. BTW, did you watch the docking part of the video, way cool for a outboard to do that.

Congratulations on your Vero Beach home purchase! I too moved to Vero three years ago, and am very happy with my decision. One thing I found out right away the inlets to the ocean are about 14 miles away at Sebastian and Ft Pierce. In addition, the iCW is rather shallow within the Indian River lagoon, which is really shallow, often less than 3’. The local boat of choice is a cc with a t-top for day use. Most folks prefer outboards, and so do the thieves that steal them. The Hondas
and the Yamahas are their favorite. It is for that reason I elected for an I/O. I live in a community that does not allow boats, so I must use a storage yard, with the usual theft deterrents, but it does little to stop these itinerant criminals. I also elected a/c for the commander, so a 2452 is what I came up with. Be it as humble as it may be, it suits my personal needs. There are plenty of Cobias and Makos and Contenders down here, but I like a hardtop, and money in the bank. Again, welcome to Vero! Hope you like it “ where the tropics begin”...
