FOWH Weekend

quote:

any thoughts how I would get from watch hill to the ferry

Which ferry? The Watch Hill ferry is right at the marina and goes to Patchogue.

Rob, I'll check with you tomorrow to see if anyone is in my slip (D11). I'm planning to get there early Friday (high tide). I'm really surprised FOWH got this weekend also, I thought the group reservations were supposed to be on the off season. This weekend worked out great for me, but I could see someone arriving early for a July 4th trip and not being happy finding out they need to leave Friday.

Might be confusing the ferries.
There is one for Davis Park and one for Watch Hill.
You can walk to either from the other if you need to but Watch Hill is best as it has free parking and goes straight to watch hill.

Evan,

I'll be on 68 and will hail you when I get to the state channel.

What is the name of your boat?

FYI - Report From Rob at Watch Hill for this weekend - Plan accordingly!

- PUMPOUT is broken
- Internet is DOWN!
- Mosquitoes are Bad!
- Slip occupants are mad as hell that they will get kicked out on Friday for reservations!

John, ur slip is occupied by pissed off aft cabin people ! They were told they have to leave by 10 am tomorrow . I'll go talk to Andy and let him know ur coming early . I'll let u know

Skeeters are pretty much at dusk ! It's bad ! They b hungry !

Rob

John, they have til 10 am to move ! Andy. Tried to get them to move now but he can only ask .

Rob

Rob, no problem, was just looking at the tide chart and I'm good to leave a little later and arrive at 10. Of course that is exactly when Accuweather is showing thunderstorms in the area so we'll see. How full is D dock otherwise? I can always go in another slip temporarily if anything is free.

Thanks,
John

I am D18, I am thinking I will be there around 2:00 depending on weather.
You can use my slip until I arrive.
I am gonna watch weather and make a decision.
But would probably come over rain or shine.
I am running solo with Gizmo.
Its just the wind that messes up my gasser, so that will be the deciding factor!
I also need to fuel up, running on fumes!

South shore bays forecast just shows 5-10 knots of wind tomorrow so that shouldn't be an issue. It also makes no mention of t-storms or rain. Supposed to be nice in the afternoon so you should be fine.

Thanks, I'll use D18 if necessary if I fit. I want to get in the slip as early as possible though once they leave, Memorial Day weekend my props were in the mud half the tide and I don't want to back into that...

You should fit but the electric won't meet your needs.
Hopefully by then they kick people out of our slips.
I feel bad, but heck, I got a reservation!

I really just hope that 1 or 2 pissed off boat people that have to move don't jeopardize the whole advanced reservation thing for the future. Good luck with you slip John, i should be arriving sometime after 11, see everyone there #128522;.

Hope these T-storms clear out quickly.

Still shooting for a 10am departure and figure to be there before noon.

I'm completely screwed...got slammed with work last night and tried to work through the night so I could still go. Anyway, not going to make it. There will be no fight over my reserved slip. Just feels like it wasn't meant to be this weekend for me.

Mint - I hope you catch this and don't wait around at all. I would have let you know sooner, but I thought I could finish up and still get there, follow you out and take a nap on the boat at watch hill.

Thank you again

Evan,

No worries. I called a few times on the radio but figured you either were ahead of me or had to cancel.

Ride over was good but a bit choppy.

Nice here with a decent breeze.

Next time.

Mark

Hope you guys are all having a good time. Seems like you caught a really good weekend!

Awesome. Weather was great. Well except for passing storm

Great to see everyone this weekend, except for the late storm today perfect weather for a weekend at the beach! We had a nice ride back, with a bit of a lightning show to the south over the ocean still. All worked out, the storm cleared in time to grill and have dinner and then head home with a little bit of daylight remaining.
