ss3 is still closed they say they will open under new owners frank is gone.
If this is the same guy; I guess I'll have to find another place to get gas on the water.
Too bad. I usually go either there or to the Anchorage across the way if I don't want to wait for the delivery truck.
About 6 years ago we were still docking in a working boatyard, and looking for a more family friendly place to dock, so I went in there looking for a slip.
I told him the year, size, and model of my boat and he showed me two slips he had available. He seemed nice enough. I told him that the admiral would ultimately choose and that I would be back with her in a little while. He shook my hand on it and I left to go get her.
I came back an hour later with my wife to let her choose which one she liked, and while we were looking at the slips he came along with half a load on (seemed like he had a couple of cocktails while I was gone) and proceeded to lecture me about if when my boat got there it wasn't up to his standards he would throw me out. He turned real chesty and nasty.
I pointed out to him that the previous owners had purchased the boat from them about three years before. He told me that didn't mean anything because they sold a lot of s$itty boats there. I later learned just how true that was.
The guy was a real jerk, and I was very tempted to shove him in to the canal. Lucky for him I learned a long time ago that it rarely pays to get hooked in by nasty drunks and A-holes.
I simply stated the obvious to him and left.
My wife really liked the place until he came along. After we got back to the car she told me she wouldn't dock there if it were for free.
I would find it hard to believe that this is the same person. Mike got me the slip I am in and he did not know me at the time. Everyone on our dock thinks Mike is a great guy. I guess everyone is capable of having a bad day, but I know Mike for over 5 years and he has always been a gentlemen with my family and me.

Has anyone seen/heard reports of debris in the waters neat lindenhurst/copiague? Or if the buoys are correctly on station?

I spoke to someone yesterday who told me that he saw what looks like a section of someone's deck, or dock, with a piling attached to it, in the water not far from Indian Island.
About a month ago I was speaking with the father of a new member of my sons Boy Scout Troop who told me he had been through the State Boat Channel several times in the previous month and saw some debris and sunken boats between the Amityville Cut and the Babylon Cut.
Besides the storm, there have been a lot of Flood tides over the last several months during a time where there is a lot of construction debris in the streets outside homes that people are trying to get back in to shape. I would imagine a lot of the debris has floated out in to the Bay.
I know that I still sometimes pick up some scrap off of my dock after a flood.
It looks like the Town has done a pretty good job of getting the stuff off the streets pretty quickly, but until things settle down with the flooding (if ever) and a lot of the major construction dies down, I think debris is going to be a problem. Probably not much anyone can do about it.
It's probably going to be a tough season, even worse for the people who are still trying to get their houses back together.

I recently chatted with Mike about slips at SS3. I told him I did not want to be on the floating docks across from service. He said, well thats what I have, take it or leave it. I said EVERY slip is rented for the 2013 season? He said yea. I left it.

We took a ride on my friends 380 dancer to Kismet at approx 1pm on Saturday and no debris was seen. We came back at approx 3:30 pm and no debris seen. We tied up at the entrance of kismet instead of inside since we didn't know if the marina was cleaned up We walked to the beach and the dunes and wooden stairs up to the beach are gone. Big Cat trucks were moving a ton of sand up and down the beach. It looks like both restaurants are fine and opening this month. It felt great to be back on the water, Safe boating to all!
