Gas docks on south shore

I have to retract what I said earlier that it looked like Bergen was open. Went there today and it is closed.

Spoke with owner(s).

They are NOT rebuilding and will most likely NOT be back this year if ever.

Insurance and lack of town related responses are the reasons.

I passed by there today. The place looks like it's destroyed. I'd be surprised if someone invested the money, and went through the trouble of getting permits to rebuild it.
A real shame.

A bit more time has passed, I hear the 2 gas docks are open in seaford, I have not seen that first hand.
has anyone seen any of the gas docks in Lindenhurst open? Babylon? or Bayshore?
maybe jerry jugs are the best bet for the sake of clean fuel?
It's looks like this weekend will be a good one to get out and do some cruising.

I called rising tides and am getting delivery today (first time I ever did this). The more people I talk to the more cautious I am of the quality of the fuel in the gas docks......figure I'll go to 3/4 today in both tanks to hold me over for a month or so.....

I've used Rising Tide several times in the last year or so. Gene is a nice guy.
 
Guys...call direct marine fuel. They've taken great care of me for 5-6 seasons so i will vouch for them and they are members here.

Wish I could use Rob (direct marine fuel). Need a place I can pull in to use him :(

He was great....price was right too. The way I figure it, I paid $36 bucks to sit on my boat and drink beer while someone went and got my 90 gallons of fuel.......really sucked to be me that day :-). Officially ready to go, next weekend, I explore the Amityville cut all the way through then to Gilgo.....so starteth the season...

If this is the same guy; I guess I'll have to find another place to get gas on the water.
Too bad. I usually go either there or to the Anchorage across the way if I don't want to wait for the delivery truck.
About 6 years ago we were still docking in a working boatyard, and looking for a more family friendly place to dock, so I went in there looking for a slip.
I told him the year, size, and model of my boat and he showed me two slips he had available. He seemed nice enough. I told him that the admiral would ultimately choose and that I would be back with her in a little while. He shook my hand on it and I left to go get her.
I came back an hour later with my wife to let her choose which one she liked, and while we were looking at the slips he came along with half a load on (seemed like he had a couple of cocktails while I was gone) and proceeded to lecture me about if when my boat got there it wasn't up to his standards he would throw me out. He turned real chesty and nasty.
I pointed out to him that the previous owners had purchased the boat from them about three years before. He told me that didn't mean anything because they sold a lot of s$itty boats there. I later learned just how true that was.
The guy was a real jerk, and I was very tempted to shove him in to the canal. Lucky for him I learned a long time ago that it rarely pays to get hooked in by nasty drunks and A-holes.
I simply stated the obvious to him and left.
My wife really liked the place until he came along. After we got back to the car she told me she wouldn't dock there if it were for free.

I would find it hard to believe that this is the same person. Mike got me the slip I am in and he did not know me at the time. Everyone on our dock thinks Mike is a great guy. I guess everyone is capable of having a bad day, but I know Mike for over 5 years and he has always been a gentlemen with my family and me.

Also would find that hard to believe that of Mike. I know him for about 11 years and he was the Captain that I hired to get me up to speed on my 280 and my 320 Sundancer. Maybe it was someother guy, or a real real bad day.

I will also miss Frank and his son. But then again it does not look like I will be back boating anytime soon.
 
I just got an email stating SS3 gas dock will be pumping gas this weekend.

So what's my best bet for fuel today (Sat)? Is AYC pumping yet?
 
AYC is pumping. Diesel was $4.22 and members get .10 discount. Gas was like $4.77 if I recall but I was more interested in diesel cost :)
 
Yes. I filled up there last Saturday. The .10 discount was a nice plus. Watch out for the remnants of the old pilings. they are cut at the mid-tide level and there were some nasty looking bolts that they had bent over that could do some damage if your boat doesn't have any flair or a small rubrail.
 
Pilings on which side? Canal Side or AYC side? I don't recall them changing any poles from the storm. The poles where very high there, did they cut them down?

Between the $4.22, .10 discount and my 2% rebate card, my price is like $4.04. Wow! Maybe I will get a extra gallon. Though my boat says I am 3/4 full!
