... a much better hang than Haverstraw or Catskill IMHO. While Catskill has a couple of nice marinas, walking through town to the only restaurant is no picnic.
Kingston is terrific, but don't rule out a visit to Catskill - the town is enjoying a major renaissance. The village is right around the corner from the Catskill Marina which is peaceful and park-like, very transient-friendly with nice people, a pool and good, clean facilities. Town's a longer walk from Hop-O-Nose Marina, which has a generally well-liked restaurant. There are now a variety of good eats in town, from the terrific Italian spot to Sushi to Thai among traditional fare - even a cool coffee joint. It's worth a try.

I'm in Haverstraw on the red docks. I have two boys - 5 & 4 yrs old by this summer. We should get together / raft up etc. Send me an e-mail with phone numbers. I'll be heading up there soon to secure my slip and will let you know where we're located.
The only political agenda I carry is that I'm strongly against Heineken. All other beers are welcome aboard!!!
