Haverstraw Marina

As far as those tanks going bang, we have a better chance of Indian Point going up fisrt. And if that goes, well lets just have a drink and kiss our backs good bye....

Yeah Pete, since we are on the Rondout CREEK, we cannot make a claim about being the best on the river. Hmmm... Gypsum or Diesel exhaust soot from trains. I can't make up my mind.

We have both Dan!!!

Butch, I'd check your facts. There have been many more oil/gas storage tank fires then nuke power plant explosions. Personally I have no issue with the tanks but Panco's upkeep of their docks and infrastructure is getting pretty ratty. They don't seem to be great neighbors!

The seemingly constant fuel spills at the Haverstraw fuel dock making the way to my boat last year was really annoying. At the times the stench was hard to take. I'm sure you get a similar issue by you from time to time.

The great staff and wonderful people that keep their boats at PB make it a great marina but perfect, sorry, nope.

BTW - There are some rumors that there are allot of slips available this year too. I remember a few years back there was a wiating list to get in to the marina.

Rommer, You sound like you are trying to justify to departure from the deep water.. Remember this... When it's 12:30pm on a beautiful Sunday and you are going back to the dock because it is low tide, us Haverstraw Marina people will have a drink for you and wish you well.. LOL

Too funny Leigh.

There is a lot to be said about having water under your boat at low tide!!!

I have about 15 feet at Liberty Landing.

The only time I look at a tide clock now a days is to see if the East River/LI Sound tide will cost me more or less money on my trip.

Used to live and die by the tide chart, no more.

Since we stay on the boat till Monday morning the low water is not an issue anymore. We are in no rush to get home on Sundays since we are already at home on the boat. We have stayed out Sunday evening numerous times after everyone has left and while we really enjoy our times rafted with others some of the most pleasant times have been just the 3 of us enjoying some solitude.

One thing we have noticed is that some people must always be around other people. They just can't seem to enjoy being out by them self or let other people have some space. Please don't think that is directed at you Leigh as it is not!

Besides, the low water at Stony Point is supposed to be a thing of the past! :)

Rommer, did I miss somewhere that you are returning to SPBM? What dock will you be at? And welcome home...

Apparently, he got kicked out of Haverstraw for causing too much of a commotion

Yup, Hogan let our secret out. We actually like to have fun! We didn't fit the typical Haverstraw profile of stopping by the boat once or twice a season. Sit on the boat having a few cocktails and then head home before dark! Amazed me how few people never sleep on their boats at Haverstraw.

We are back on G dock our old home. Different slip than we had but not a problem and it's good to be going home to be with our old friends. Damn, now I've pissed off our new Haverstraw friends again. Sorry! We will be over to see ya! Hell we would see you on the water but it's hard to get some of you guys out there! ;)

Aren't the docks at Haverstraw noisy when people walk on them? I prefer the wood docks up here but we have not stayed there for any length of time.

I never really found the noise to be an issue but SLIPPERY! Wow! A morning dew in the spring or fall can be deadly. And hot gets redefined with metal docks. Foot covering is NOT optional in August! I'm a barefoot type of person, wearing sandals even in the winter but when washing the boat in August you would have to wet down the dock or risk burning your feet.

I'm sure many think I don't like Haverstraw but thats just not the case. Every place has pros and cons. Haverstraw is no exception.

Even the dogs wear booties on the docks during the Summer. You gotta do what you gotta do. When you meet really great people, as we have in Haverstraw, the minor marina inconveniences are less important.

Gez, look at all the great things we have at Penny bridge, new docks that dont make noise, dont get that hot and when they do we turn the showers on. Great people as well as service. Our own private beach with picnic areas. A short walk from our cars to our boats. A great view of the river from our boats. No wonder people are always trying to get in....

Oh well thats it for me, see you all soon....Miami, here I come!

Yo. RYB is a great hang also, and we don't get the rollers coming in from the river!

Butch, you forgot that we also have Randy, who regularly entertains us at Parrot Bay, just a short stumble from the marina gate.

rommer, I thought you were a "crocs" kinda guy!

I do have to give SPBM credit for hiring the most handsome, friendliest and all around best lifeguard for their pool.

Thats right, Forgot about our live entertainment, Our bar and resturant just a stones throw away. Dont have to worry abot the drive back to the marina after a night of live entertainment. And some good food that is priced reasonable....

Speaking of food, I hear that resturant down on main street is hoping to have a shuttle service for us this year. Just another great service provided to us boaters....

I do love my crocs but live in my sandals.

So the shuttle bus is finally making it down to PB eh? Been coming to other marinas for 2 years!

Good point about the lifeguard Mike. He spends way more time at SPB then your marina anymore. I guess he COULD work at PB, oh wait YOU DON'T HAVE A POOL! ;)
