Haverstraw

That's why we put you down on the end!!

I wanted to be down at the end.

Jonathan

OK thats it! You can't raftup with us anymore!!!!

:):):):):):):):):):):):):)

That comment was directed at Hogan. One of those "inside" things that happen from time to time. We all have moments of brilliance in our life's and then there was this time :)

John, I thought it WAS a moment of brilliance. I don't need to deal with someone who has no clue as to rafting-up, and who thinks he knows everything and refuses to learn.

All he had to do was untie, drift away and then put his dink on board, rather than stay on an end without anchors and endanger all the other boats in the raft-up.

Plus, Bobby made me do it...

On the other hand, you are always welcome on my anchor.

And you on mine! (I feel a group hug coming!)

As for the other stuff I only got third hand accounts of it and just discounted it all. Over a beer I need to tell you the story about him getting my anchor rode caught in his prop while leaving another raftup ;)

Talking about this stuff brings back bad memories of my first time in bowline with my 38' Still brings shivers to my spine! Trying to leave a raftup in strong winds and having your windlass jam with 40 or so feet of rode still out is NOT fun! Guess we all have a horror story or two.

Yup... That'd be me! Hey gang, we're leavin'. Get ready!
Wha?
You should've seen the guy off my bow's face. He says "yer 'sh*&tin me!". He was getting ready to throw the hook right in front of us after I started up...
But it went smooth enough no?

Dan, we are not referring to you, it was this past summer's raft-up.

Bowline can be tough, (ask Jonathan about him being unable to get his Silverton anchor to set there) that's why I was so concerned about the uneven weight on the raft-up, but he couldn't/refused to listen to what I was saying.

Remember Dan, Mike said I can now legally guide you in to Bowline with my new Captains lic. so give me a shout when your in the neighborhood.

Hi guys; you get to boat in one of the prettiest and interesting places I have ever seen.
In an other post, I said I use to live on my boat at Haverstraw Marina back in 81.
The marina was nothing more than a small office and one ramp with I think 5 fingers off of it.

We would go to Bear Mtn. and tie up for the night. They also had moorings.

Watching the tankers go through the s curve at West Point was always interesting. I dont remember where the tankers were going.

There was a small sand beach on the east side of the river just north of West Point. Dont remember the name of the beach but I think there was an old mine there.

Croton was always fun, especially if a storm was coming accross the river. Could get a little rough.

Good luck on your raft up plans. Sounds like fun.

Wow u guys have issues....

Walter... i think we can pull this off...

I guess ill be on the end ... I Love running my gen set.....

We setting stern anchors too???

To many bow anchors.... no stern anchors ,,, makes for a mess in the morning after a wind change....

I got some cool pics of our raft ups ill post em tomorrow...

Im not inviting DON... he's getting flakey in his old age....Think to many jolts to the mellon

I owe hoggie some beers.....

Rob

Rob

What kind of question is THAT? Do you think your dealing with rookies? We don't need no stinkin' stern anchors!

Geez!!!

I would love to hang with these guys......... seems like some good people.....

Walter

Well, I hope he kicks that glue habit, it can be nasty.

I sure do hope to partake in some of these raft-ups from across the river. Wife has always been reluctant but the few times we did tie up, she had a nice time.

Now Don, if you come up to visit, you'll have to talk in complete sentences without pausing. Is that possible? You type as if you're having an asthma attack...is everything OK?
