Headed To Bahamas

Have a great trip, Bob. I just had the slap in the face of having to run the raw water pump to rinse off all 60' of anchor chain I had out yesterday back in the muddy Chesapeake. I sure do miss clear water and sand (although the lack of salt up here is a treat).

Hi Bob,

How did you finally make out on your best cruise RPMs and fuel burn numbers?

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

Good luck, but keep a weather eye on Invest 92, possible Alex.

At least your boating! We're on the hard.

The weather looks stable for a week from what passageweather.com says. I know we've never seen a weather window that large when we were traveling! It does look like things get riled up in a week tho.

Looks like you are hauling the mail! Almost half way already. When you get in let us know how fast you were running. Looks like about 15 or 16 knots?

Dang, my SPOT track never looks that straight. It must be pretty darn flat out there.

It took us 10 and a quarter hours at an average of 9 knots to run from Lauderdale to Lucaya, and he's well along in 5. Gotta be good running out there.

It has been flat the last few days. I was 6 - 7 miles off the St Lucie inlet yesterday fishing and it was very calm. We were drifting at 4.5 kts so he is bucking some current. At least he is making a breeze at his cruising speed: 14 kts (guesstimate). It was darn hot drifting, but I was on a boat in deep blue water so it didn't matter much.

Rub it in Mark, rub it in. Would you like some muddy water sent your way? I've got plenty for the next 10 months! :-)

It was pretty darn flat when we headed over last month. We popped out of Ft. Pierce inlet thinking of making an outside run to Palm. But it was so flat we headed SE instead. I think that was around 5 hours. Then the trip back from W. End to St. Lucie was about 4. I don't think I could do it on a slower boat :-)

Crossed over today. Had one of those magic days weather wise. Spending the night at Port Lucaya and off to the wild blue tomorrow, who knows where. heres a few photos:

ICW along the way.

Dan - and it only takes me about 20-25 gallons too :-)

Bob - are you at Port Lucaya Marina? How's checking in there going for you? They searched a few boats when we were there.

Nice breeze moving but still VERY HOT!!!!!!!!!

So, we stopped and took a dip in 2400' blue water. Spooky! :)

Not bad! Not bad at all! Depending on how long you are traveling it looks good to head South for a while but it may get socked in after that for a while. There are worse places to be stuck as another RO has mentioned. How long are you planning to stay over?
