How did you get back on the boat with the dinghy on the swim platform?

Rub it in Mark, rub it in. Would you like some muddy water sent your way? I've got plenty for the next 10 months! :-)...

Up river from the St Lucie Inlet is just like the Chesapeake Bay, brown water and muddy bottom. That said it is a short trip to the clear blue, at least as long as the oil slick doesn't get here.

Bob, it looks like you stayed in the garden slips at the Port lucaya marina. I have heard that the hotel is in receivership but the marina is open. Is the big pool open? Any change in the hotel status? We are headed across in a few days and Lucaya is our first stop. Thanks.

When I asked them about a pool they directed me to the golf course across the road. Hotel looked totally empty.

We only stayed one night and enjoyed it. But aside from the Marina I don't know much about it.

Some empty store spaces in Town Square and th esquare itself is under repair.

Yup, tucked in behind the Great Isaac Lighthouse for the night. Went ashoer and explored the "ruins". Sure is a barren place. :) Fishing was pretty good, though, and did a bit of diving. (Blah diving)

Bimini Big Game Club. As you all know it's reopened. I like it!! Docks are old, non-floating but in very good repait with all new electric and water facilities. Club is gorgeous, pool is very nice and showers/rest rooms are very clean (of course it's all still new)

Had lunch in the restaurant and got a really good cheese burger. Staff is quite friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend it.

Maybe we'll check that out in the Fall! Thanks for the shot of the light. At least we know what to look for now.

Looks like we may be stuck here for a 2-3 days. Weather is going to turn crappy tomorrow faternoon and pretty much suck until later in the week. Wind, lots and lots of wind..

But as someone said - there ARE worse places .......

Bob

Indeed there are. I was thinking you could have run to Nassau and hung out there to wait for the blow to pass. I'd say you are certainly better off here than the Berry's but you never know...
If the wind is out of the east the shore to the north was calm enough to go out but that inlet can whip up a bit with the tide. Nothing much on South Bimini it seemed everything was closed. Depending the Sapona could be a good stop. We did that in the Avon dink but it was a rough ride out. Then we came back along the rocks on the Gulf Stream side. You may enjoy this. There are mooring balls out there. I'm thinking your boat would work on them? The rocks are North West of the Sapona. Go West from the Sapona, and then head North along the rocks and you should hit some mooring balls. They may be in a directory of some sort somewhere on the net. We never looked for them on the net.

thanks for the Spot Map link.

We've been enjoying it.

How are those Yannies doing?

RWS

Dan, yup, the inlet is really bouncy. The wind is dead out of the East. Today we're going out to a couple of deeper water dive sites and back in here. Then we'll just sit it out. Tues, Wed, Thur are going to be VERY windy out of the east.

Randy, Yannys have been really challenged but have performed excellently. We've got way too much weight on the boat but they have hauled it all aroud quite well. Between the SCUBA gear, SCUBA compressor, fishing gear, dink and motor, grill, and enough food for an army, we're pretty heavy. Not to mention the liquor and beer. :)

Spent yesterday and last night on the east side of North Bimini. There are a couple of dive sites there so we dove them and then anchored out for the night.

Making prep right now to raise anchor and slub it out down to the east side of Cat Cay and will anchor/dive for a few days while this friggin' wind blows. Wind is strong but the east sides of the islands have quite calm water. Not bad.

Started to go back into Big Game Club last night until I saw the inlet with a running tide and STRONG easterly wind and thought batter or it. So we went to the Atlantis Road dive/snorkle site and dropped the hook.

I'm there as I type this and hooked to the Big Game Club WiFi via my Rogue that I purchased from BillyIII.

Dan, I am familiar with the rocks west of Sapona. If it is doable we will probably go there Thursday after a few dive sites along Cat Cay's. It's a great place to hang out and the mooring balls are very handy. If not, Cat will be home until the wind settles down.

Bob

We never made it to Cat. It looked exclusive like the marina didn't want any transients from what we read.

Well, as it's turning out, the wind right around the Bimini's isn't all that bad. It's bad all around us but the local area isn't too bad.

Spent last night anchored off off North Cat Cay last night and all day today SCUBA diving a few sites there. Very nice day.

Now back to Big Game Club for one of those cheese burgers. Leaving early tomorrow morning head home. My friend has some health problems and the heat just isn't treating him right.

But, all in all it's been fun, just too short.

I will be back in August.

Bob

Bummer you have to head back already. Could be a bit sloppy. Maybe sit a day or two? If not I'm thinking you will be heading North West to roll along with it?

Yup, will check it in the morning but will probably go NW to Lake Worth Inlet. Wish we could wait a couple of days but my friends health issues need to be attended to so we'll just have to slug it out. From the looks of it nothing dangerous, just a bit uncomfortable for a while.

Loke I said though, I'll be back in August. :)

Any fuel burn numbers yet?
