Same here George. Amazing how people can be only a dock away but yet never run into each other.
 
rommer, unless you are splashing at one second past midnight, your clock is off by several hours.
 
Actually I plan on being in the water March 20th but the clock is a general target. I realize everyone has a different launch date.
 
Yup, wanna get down there for some cheap fuel before it goes up!
 
Further south it is even cheaper. We had it in the mid 2 buck range in Virginia. It was 3.19 here in St. Augustine. It's been different every where we go. RYB in Kgn was charging 5.48 a gallon when we left!
 
RYB seems have been ripping people off on fuel all year. Don't get me wrong I like going to the place but I'll never buy fuel there.
 
So far this trip has been a real eye opener with regard to how some marinas do business vs. others. Most we've been to refuse to keep junkers on shore, and the grounds are extremely well kept. For the most part we've had floating concrete docks, and the power, water, and cable have all been great.
And yes, they have cars that they let you take for a couple of hours at a time. For free!

I should have posted it here as well. It's at danmapes.blogspot.com. I started it at the request of folks I know and worked with. They were non boating types, and as well, Pascal had his barn burner with the web cam going. Thgere are links to photos and the gps data can be used with google maps or google earth. I recently discovered that google earth will not draw the paths out unless you zoom in depending on the lap top.

Went out today from newburgh ramp to the kingston lighthouse and back nice ride but chilly !! pulled the block plugs and droped the lower water pump hose ... hope she don't freeze before the next run .Just can't put it away for the season yet.

Pete is the creek completely empty ? Do any of the resturants or the city still have a dock or two in the water ?
We plan on one more trip up there mabey get some lunch, it doesn't matter that much I have been known to tie up to just about anything.
I actually hooped a U-turn between the two lighthouses and didn't make it to the creek entrance. Believe it or not with snowmobile helemets on and sno- suits + heavy gloves we were pretty warm and averaged about a 35 mph. cruise.
I usually don't completely winterize untill after the christmas morning cruise , It's kind of a tradition for me and my friend Dan every year. It started when I got back from the first gulf war a day before christmas and all I could think about was getting on the river. My buddy Dan pulled up in front of my house christmas morning and off we went down to the Nyack ramp,( he is as crazy as me) been diong it every year, except one ever since then .
It is a pretty cool feeling bieng the only one out there .... Best whishes and happy thankgiving to the boater ed gang.
 
Jon, I'm not sure which docks might still be in. Perhaps the Steel House or Rosita's, or maybe the Maritime Museum. I would call first. Also, be sure you have fuel for a round trip when you leave Stony Point, because AFAIK there is none available any more in the Creek...
