Heading to Seaway Marina on Kellys Island for Memorial weekend. Anyone else going?

Ron

Does the island still have lots of snakes?

I haven't been to Seaway since '09, things any better or worse?

Would rather be at Portside than Seaway. Better place to see the parade from. Unless there have been improvements, Seaway was a dump last time I was there. Lousey electric hookups and worse water.

Portside all the way! I'll be there Sunday night. If you need help getting a reservation, let me know, I'll see if I can't help you out!

Seaway has been improving. Better customer service, and new seawalls and hook-ups, and brick pavers at the wall instead of weeds and gravel.

That's good to hear. I always perfered the quiet (most of the time) and no surge of Seaway but hated the conditions

We are staying at the new section they just put in last year. We have 14 boats in our group. Some of us cannot dock at Portside. Only at the large well dock. We then get blocked in. So Seaway it is. We also have enough room to launch our dingy's. The lake is looking pretty rough for Friday. But today is only Tuesday. Next stop the Martini bar.

Yes, we all made it to Seaway. The Lake came way down Saturday morning. It was less than 1 foot. So we just putted over. From our dock it is only about 15 miles. Weather provided we are headed to Pelee this weekend. After next weeekend, June 14/16 the Fish Festival in Vermilion. June 28 to July 7, Leamington,BobLo,Wyandotte and RattleSnake. After that July 24 to Aug 6. Windsor, the Hiram Walker Distillery, St Clair, Sarnia, and back down to the North Channel Yacht Club, The Old Club, Grosse Pointe and BobLo and back home.
10 to 12 boats

How was Seaway? I'll have questions about Pelee as we have never stopped there. I'll be up your way 6/21 & 22 by car. One of the guys I travel with is RC for the GCBA and has to put on the GCBA event at the basin that weekend.

Your agenda for the summer sounds like a great time

Seaway was great. No surge in the marina. Shelter houses to grill and get out of the weather. You will need to bring your own grill. Cathy the girl that runs the marina saw to all our needs, including rides into town and back. No problems with power or water hoook ups. Lots of room to maneuver. On Pelee we will be staying on the north side of the island. Scudders marina. Winds this weekend from the southwest. Makes for a cruising weekend:)

Pelee has installed new docks in the last couple of years. A new co-op market has opened up next to the marina. The Pelee island beach bar is still open. On the south side of the island some one bought Dick's marina and plans to open up a new marina. How they will handle the schoaling is going to be interesting at best.

Is the winery still on Pelee?

We may stop at Scudders on this years trip before heading to Leamington.

Niles

As of my last visit the winery was there and doing well. Of course that was a number of years ago. Used to be a very good restaurant there also.

But are there still snakes on K Island???
