I was told by KVH at the IBEX show they are the same and have no problem with the R1 on a boat...of course they also told me a lot of other bullsh!t too.....and because I installed it myself, my warranty is voided....BUT if I get an authorized dealer to sign off on the install they will honor it...Well I called my closest (and the one they recommended) dealer, back last fall....and still waiting on the return call, I figure he might call about the time the warranty runs out .........I didn't go with the local dealer, because 1. his price was more than I could buy it for.. 2. He didn't tell me about a $500 rebate (which I assume he was gonna stick in his pocket and.. 3. He didn't mention a free receiver rebate, which I figure he was gonna get and then sell me
