Life's funny, isn't it? Thank you BE and Les!!

Good deal Pascal. I remember the Charmer web cams. It's almost a whole chapter of BE!

Spent hours watching your ICW trips, what great experience. The best of luck with your future ride. Thanks

Ken

Will the new boat require a larger crew. Could be the biggest challenge will not be handling the boat but the crew.

I think you'll enjoy running the Lazzara.

I've run several over the years, including over seeing a new build. They are well thought out boats with, as you noted, one of the best ships manual in the business.

Have fun!

Congratulations Pascal. Great looking boat and love the video. Glad to see your "Special Guest" finally realized that there is a benefit to owning a yacht. :)
And I'm sure having a partner such as you made the decision easy. Good things happen to good people. See you in Exumas this winter if plans come together. Smooth seas!

Can you give us some details on the decision process used to choose the Lazzara and evaluating that boat and it engines?. they have good reputation here but they were built here but other than the late models that used multiple IPS I dont know anything about those big engines..

When moving the boat or when running with up to 6 guests, we plan on running her like we did Charmer, just Naomi and I. As I always say, the bigger the boat the easier it is to handle in close quarter and it is true here. She is heavier and less susceptible to wind gusts. Also has engine controls on both sides of the aft deck. While insurance requires a full time mate on board, I have ready handled her on my own while Naomi was busy with other things on board. Very easy.

Now with a full house, we will use a third crew mostly for cleaning and helping out.

Bill, I am really impressed so far both with the quality and also with the handling and performance. I have been recording data at various cruise speed and it is simply amazing. She will cruise at 19kts at 1550rpm 38% load and 60gph. The down side maybe a slightly rougher ride when the seas build up as she is lighter than other boats but so far in the 3 footer we got off the bow in 15-20kts on the way from Naples, I found the ride to be very smooth. Anther trade off is the balsa cored bottom which usually is a deal killer for me. In this case, considering the quality of the construction and the attention to hull penetration shown in the blue prints, I m fine with it.

Oh... And the draft. Just under 5'. What a relief after 8 years dealing with 6.5'

Th decision process was pretty easy. Having known the owners for 6 or 7 years and having had them on board charmer for as much as 8 or 9 weeks a year, We pretty much knew what they needed.

It had to be a skylounge for the owners need which eliminated 90% of the boats in that size and price range. A big aft deck was next and although the Lazzara aft deck is smaller than Charmer's, it is bigger than most others including the 80' hatt. Other criteria included At least 4 staterooms plus two for crew and under 7 or 8 years old. On my end, it had to be powered by Cat (MTUs maybe but no MANs), no mutts/ferretis or others like that.

Final shortlist had the Lazzara at the top, followed by a couple of 80 Hatt along with an Horizon and a Hargrave. From then on it went pretty quickly and after a bit of haggling they had the boat under contract, surveyed etc... Survey only came back with a few minor things as the elderly owners had not used the boat much the last couple of years and the management company cut some corners. Engines and gensets only have around 1400 hours. The biggest item we re addressing are the aftercoolers which are the original style and prone to failure. We re upgrading them to the newer style...

Funny thing is that they basically bought the boat sight unseen, except for the walk thru video I did when we first checked her out... But they were very pleased when they stepped on board for the first time when we got her to new home in miami !
