I have good pressure from my fresh water tank but have poor to no pressure lately on my shore water supply. Can the shore supply inlet be taken apart for cleaning? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

The shore water connection has a small screen filter and built in pressure regulator. Could be the pressure regulator is going bad or the screen is clogged. The only way to tell is to take remove it from the boat and test. Hopefully, Doral left enough line to do this.

I've been having a similar problem on my Bayliner so just yesterday I removed the regulator to check.
It is a Jabsco and the little mesh filter was clean. I managed to blow thru' the regulator and it was clear. I then coupled the shore hose and the pressure out was almost as good as the pressure in.
I replaced it back and now the shower has good pressure, although not quite as good as the pump.
I don't think the unit can be opened and it looks like it only has a spring and a backflow valve...I could not blow thru' it backwards.

Thanks for the replies, I have removed the 4 screws holding the Jabsco regulator to the boat, but your right, Doral did not leave enough slack in the waterline to access the back of the device for removal. Perhaps if I disconnect the water line at the pump by-pass I can get some slack for removing and replacing.
Thanks again.

Depending on where the pump is located, you may just want to extend the hose there for future access. If you don't like the idea of an extra joint in the hose, you could use the original as a fish line for a new longer hose.

Or, while you have it out, you could eliminate it all together and control the pressure externally.

I have found on our dock water pressure can vary greatly by who is washing down their boats etc. We are the last boat on the dock. We also are the biggest AC power user. It's a great view but it's not without some minor issues. I just replaced my freshwater fitting and regulator when I had the boat completely refitted.

Did it help?

How does current use affect water pressure?

I just replaced my regulator. Same problem, no pressure. Took it off, checked the screen, then hooked it up to the garden hose and only a trickle came out. Regulator was 10 years old. It was a Jabsco.

Can't figure this thing out. I went to the marina this weekend and had all kinds of pressure from the shore water hookup. I think the regulator must be sticking and should be replaced when I pull the boat this week for the winter.

Good idea and a cheap fix.

Replace the regulator, preferably in the spring before commissioning the boat - they aren't all that expensive.

Agree. I am still for the external fix myself. But that is me.

It helped some however when your at the end of a long line like I am sometimes we get pressure drops. Now the good part is we take our showers usually at night so there isn't anyone hosing down their boats then. Also our marina has no real live aboards my wife and I and one other couple on the opposite dock are there the most. We usually go down Thursday and return to home/work on Monday.

Well, I have replaced the regulator when doing my winterizing so I look forward to all working well come spring 09. I was able to access the connection through the rear seat storage area and all went fairly easy.
Thanks for all the advise.
