So an update on the overall trip.
Took inside out there.
Bridge at Wantagh is much higher than sign says.
At 17' we had over 20'
All other bridges seemed to be around 20'
No depth issues at all, run was pretty good except by Jones Inlet where I got confused and ended up under the wrong bridge, but it was fine, we turned around and went back.
Railroad bridge was open.
East Rock Inlet was smooth.
Ocean was 4' or better but was not terrible.
NY Harbor was fine.
Way home, we cut corner and went thru the race and it was rough.
But once out in open ocean, it was smooth.
Stayed about a mile and half off shore in 35' of water the whole way.
Saw either a shark or sunfish cut in front of my boat, it was a really big fin!
At fire island inlet we came in, had some decent rollers following us in but it was fine, just follow the buoys.
Lowest I saw was 13'
Got cursed at by alot of boats fishing right smack in the inlet, not sure what these guy's expect us to do.
Cruise in at 5mph and have waves push us around.
Annoys the crap out of you because 3 of our boats had little kids and we saw every gesture you can see from these a'holes!
We then took Captree, which was a mistake but I wasn't leading at that point.
Coming under the bridge after captree and right after you go around the red, you want to head straight on for green, go no where near the red. It is 2' of water in the channel. You can also go on the opposite side of the green if you want and still have plenty of water. Red is a pole and needs to be moved!
A trick I applied and works good, is when your in shallow water, use 1 motor, not 2. First you can pick the 1 on the deeper side to run and second it drafts less since the boat is not being pulled down as much by two motor torque!
Overall except for what I think was a solid hit in state channel on something in 14' of water, my boat ran good and still runs good. Gonna have it checked out but mechanic says if it's not wobbling we may not have to haul it.
