Don, I used the per foot rate as a guide for the behind the house deal. As John (JVM225)says, it mostly goes by a fixed rate. Some quotes in the past were about $1800-$2200 for my 32'(35 LOA) I forget about the electric charge cost, it was not included. But is was no more than about $25-30 a month for my boat.

So far, I am planning to stay where we are for now, but am open to consider a good deal between Babylon and Islip, Bay Shore would be best.

I was thinking the same thing... Don I promise, nor farting and no spooge in your tub. Oh wait.. hummmm... boat slip, hot tub , bbq.... what are you asking ;-)
 
I'll leave you the keys for the house too..............just NO SPOOGE in the hot tub.....OK
 
Getting back to G dock at the Anchorage: That's where most of the slips for a boat like ours are. There's one slip on M dock. Are break-ins something I really should be concerned about? Should I be looking elsewhere in the Bay Shore area? Because of the camperback on our boat, a crosswind when enterring the marina can be a problem. How bad is the entrance from the bay? Hy
 
I would assume if you remove all your valuables and electronics........it should be safe. I've seen some guys write on the shrink wrap with spray paint....... " NO ELECTRONICS ONBOARD "

But I guess there are some dumb thiefs !
 
Don your talking about over the winter. For winter storage you can ask that your boat not be over on G dock. But in season, there has been some boats over there broken into. Again, not sure its still a issue. It can happen anywhere, but G dock is right against the school fence.

Look at the map I posted and see where the slips are.

The opening is not bad at all for a small boat, but you really need to look at it yourself.

I think F dock might fit the bill. I was looking at a slip over there a few years ago and it seemed OK. The slip was too narrow for me, but those slips should fit an 8 1/2 foot beam nicely. It is a little too close to the commercial building, but not really too bad.
I remember going gown there to meet a guy and look at a slip on G dock that he was selling. It backs right up on the fence. I also remember there being some problems between slip owners over there. Two guys just about came to blows when I was down there. Seems there was a war going on and they were unplugging each others boats or something.

It would concern me, what is the slip # you are looking at?
Entrance is not a problem IMHO
M dock would be better
The have nothing on the floating docks?
 
Don,
Having someone you can trust using your dock may be a good thing for you. They can keep an eye out on your house while your away.

SS3 is nice, but the restrictions on having to use there people for anything on your boat stinks.

Walter......I have a few GREAT neighbors that I'm sure will keep an eye on my place....but that was my thought also.

I was thinking of offering it to John ( the guard )....but he loves his slip at the AYC .....
 
I have never been a fan of SS3. I had a boat there for two seasons and most of the people I met there were dock queens. There were a few people who kept buying bigger boats because his friend two boats down bought a 37 and he had to have the biggest boat on the dock..Mostly everyone at SS3 knows your $hit, or atleast thinks they do. Im not one to hang around the dock, thats why I have a boat, to go out and use it.
 
AYC has two slips on the end of G dock, in the 60s and two slip at the beginning of Gdock, in the teens, and one slip in the middle of M dock. I want at least a 10' wide slip; that gives me 1.5' on each side for clearance while docking. The floating docks are for smaller boats, 18' or so, so they say. I'm not concerned with theft during winter storage; I take everything home. I'm concerned wit4h theft or damage during the season, when she sits at dock. Years ago we had our previous boat at Center Yacht Club in Moriches. In early January that year I came to the marina to pay a bill and the place was filled with police cars. Quite a few boats had been broken into with damage and theft all over the place, supposedly about 100k worth. One guy I met said his "mad money" had been stolen from his secret hiding place on his boat. I wonder how he explained that one to his wife! I enjoy doing my own work on the boat; I find it relaxing and satisfying, so SS3 wouldn't fit. I'll keep looking. Thanks for all the comments.
 
I think you will be fine over there.
M dock looks better but G 60 is near the middle.
There are alot of boats there and I have not heard of any crime during the summer time, seems to be mostly off season.

F dock would be better, I have seen a few of these on craigslist for sale and/or rent.
 
You can work on your boat at ss3. You just can't bring an outside mechanic to your boat. I change my oil, zincs and any other minor maintenance on my boat. I have been st ss3 for 3 seasons now. We are on A dock and there is a great group of guys and families on our dock. Many of us go out every weekend. Some stay on the Dock more. We all get along great, have awesome dock barbeques and great times at the sore thumb, kismet, west hampton, etc. We get together once a month over the winter to make the long cold winters bearable. Cant wait till i get splashed!
 
Was talking with the wife today and we were also thinking of moving East with our boat which is currently in Freeport. Was wondering for all the Anchorage YC people on here if they know what it might cost to rent a slip there and if they know anyone looking to rent or should i just contact the office. Boat is a 30 ft with a 10 ft beam. Thanks in advance.
