I posted this in another forum, but probably should have here instead. I have a Jabsco 37*** series that worked for one flush (bowl full of stagnet water from sitting for a few weeks) then would not flush any more. I moved the shaft around a bit, it flushed again, then back to not working and tripping the breaker again. I disassembled the pump and apart it works fine. Re-assembled, back to not working. So...is it just in need of the service kit, or is it a bad pump?

Hmmm...the shaft turns slowly until the breaker trips....if it were shorted, wouldn't it just trip right away?

Not necessarily - it depends on how much juice the motor is drawing. Another possibility is bad or dry motor bearing, causing an undue load on the motor.
