Miami - Nantucket live on Webcam...

Pascal thanks for sharing this trip with all of us. I dream of doing this trip some day. How did you make out with the Digital cell phone amplifier installation? I was thinking if you came to N.J. on your way up (Atlantic City) I would bring my test equipment to the boat and make sure your amplifier was performing properly. It's just an offer. Take care. Bill

Not a problem on the taxi service, Pascal! It was nice to see you and meet Nancy and her guests....and see a beautiful boat!

And thanks for dinner, Nancy...that was greatly appreciated! The dogs were very happy to see me when I got home, to say the least!

Safe travels....

Pascal, if you are planning on Atlantic Highlands, NJ being an overnight let me know as I could surely help with whatever you need. Most likely the cheapest and freshest Diesel toy will see in NJ.

Great entertainment. What is your setup for the webcam on the boat Pascal?

I just checked the cam again......they have all sorts of things sitting out---coffee pots, cups, glasses, etc. while they are underway and nothing seems to be toppling over! That appears to be on very stable boat!!!! I'm impressed.

Coffee Time......

Can anyone explain the straight lines through land when viewing the KML file? I actually just paste it into Google Maps, and it can read it just fine. Just paste the URL into the Maps search box, and you'll see the course. I noticed that it did this with GE as well though.

Last recorded position is just south of the Islands Expressway in northern GA, near the SC border. So cool.

"explain the straight lines through land when viewing the KML file?"

data transfer/syntax error in the file. In the process of the GPS getting to your copy of GE, a bit or two got dropped or altered. Then GE plotted the error.

I wonder how many phone calls are made to arrange the slips for the evening. Seems like they just pull in somewhere and tie up to a wall or dock.

Niles

Nancy, this is really great stuff. Thanks for taking us a long for the ride!

Nancy, RO# 4224, is not the same Nancy who owns the boat Pascal is taking to Nantucket.......

I just caught the run up to the dock today and at firstnlook I thought Pascal might be coming into Savannah and tieing up alongside the docks on River Road.
Where are you tonight?

I know that. Others may not though, so thanks for posting that.

Trouble docking? nope... this boat is a pu**ycat, I dont' even need to use the grinders! :-) oh... I see... GE is not always spot on as you can see with some of the straight lines.

I needed EXPRESSO! so we got a small electric Expresso maker yesterday (thks to the ride Eric gave us...) and it's up on the flybridge on the fridge/ice maker... very handy!

Hell Gate wasn't hell after all, the temp markers are where they need to be and we have 6' under the boat at mid tide.

Little Mud River on the other hand was hairy... The sounder read 0 for about 100' at the southern entrance, and that was at mid tide! the tranduscer is near the "keel" with a 2' offset. Since the props are about a foot under the keel, when it reads 0, there is still almost a foot clearance... we didn't touch but that wasn't a fun moment! i was coasting, just bumping one engine in gear at a time, letting the wind and incoming tide pushing us over the shoal.

We're downtown Savanah, at the River Stree Market Place Docks. great location, about $2 a foot. River traffic isn't a problem, it's fun to watch the big container ships passing by.

tomorrow will be another late start to Charleston, prob. 9am. so we can hit Fields Cut, at the junction with the SAv. River. with at least 2' incoming tide.

dominic, I use an ATT aircard to upload the cam image and the KML file.

Bill, thks for the offer, I need to splice the antenna cable before we can test it. the kit come with a cable that's barely long enough and to top it off it the antenna side fitting didn't fit thru the 8' extension... Not sure where we're stopping yet... prob. Atlantic City then NY.
