Boy do I ever miss the enjoyment and learning pleasure that I used to find here on this forum daily.

Following the posted projects, hearing about the mishaps, near misses, upgrades fixes and repairs were all very much fun.

What do y'all do for your daily BoaterEd "fix" ?

The biggest difference between small boats and big boats are electrical components.

Yes, this used to be a very informative site with very good and reliable information. I too used to be on here daily but now there are very few posts. Not sure why it is so dead but it would be nice if it came back to life like it was even a few years ago.
 
I agree that BE seems to have less traffic than in years past, but valuable information is still available.
 
Well I'd be happy to tell you the other sites I visit. But as I recall the rules around here, unlike the other sites I visit, forbid mentioning other boating sites.

Would Macy's tell Gimbels? Sometimes it works.....sometime not so much.

Well first off this is not a money making business. Second, do you really think Macy's customers didn't know Gimbels existed?

As well as, I was in a locally owned marine store yesterday, a customer needed a part they didn't have in stock and he needed it that day, the employee helping that person offer to order it if the customer could wait. When he said he could not, the employee without hesitation suggested they try the local West Marine store.

In this day and age it's no secret many other shopping/ forum options exist and that your customers are fully aware of it. To stick your head in the sand and try to deny that is silly.
 
Almost 50 different folders.........only about 25 have been posted in for 2015.......less then 1/2 that in the past month. IMHO its shrinking.

So maybe that's what RO really means.......Run Off

I guess my "Miracle on 34th Street" point was missed. IIRC, the no other site rule was two fold. One was to keep business inside BoatFix. The other was to preclude infected links from getting into BE.

To what end....Hacking of yesterday is not hacking of today and BF is no more.

Other sites I am on welcome the references to competing sites because it could in turn drum up business for their own site. The Sea Ray site I'm a member of is very active. IMHO, the knowledge base here is far superior because of the many different brands of boats that have similar problems.
 
Unfortunately times have changed since starting to come to this site. I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the posts and threads. Now it seems just a small fraction of the volume of questions and answers. I have a long commute by train and it was good reading material. I boat in the upper Chesapeake Bay and many say the marine industry is still off from the high maybe 10 years ago. We have many marines that have open slips which wasn’t the case years ago.

Small boats and pontoon still seems relatively strong. I think folks don’t have the spendable income they once had for boating activities. Again this could just be my spin on the world.
 
It's definitely dropped off since the 1st of the year - I spend a lot more time at a couple of other sites now.
 
Although the posts are way less than previous years, there are great informative people here. Happy to have been a member here and will continue to support this site. What I have learned and the people I have met from this site is even now worth the support. Don't get me wrong though, I too am saddened to see what was the boating site to be where it is now. :(
 
hey, I will chime in. It has been years. I have been a lurker and have only posted a few times. I will fix that and become the resident jerk... Just kidding.
 
Notably absent from these repeated discussions is Les.
