Overnight on the hook: Security?

Flutterby...problem is that happened in CA- nothing rational happens there!!

:)

Of course she should be charged, you can't simply shoot someone in your yard unless it is clearly self defense. Self defense laws are pretty common sense in most states. The Castle Doctrine, a law in many states, in essence, simply places into law what is a fundamental right: self-defense. If a person is in a place he or she has a right to be—in the front yard, on the road, working in their office, on their boat, strolling in the park—and is confronted by an armed predator, he or she can respond in force in defense of their lives.

"Burglars were in the backyard stealing marijuana which was grown for medical purposes. A woman from the house went outside and shot one of the burglars. The others fled. The woman has been arrested for attempted murder"

How was her life being threatened????

Greg I have to disagree about the safety of a holstered cocked and loaded weapon. If you hop into the seat of the car armed like this a donut laden butt might happen to force things into the unlikely scenario. Ooops.. Sorry about the cheap shot.. Pun intended...
But aren't most LEs now carrying a double action weapon regardless of it being a revolver or semi auto?

PS Everyone write your congressman and senator ->

Except boatbum, if you noticed I said, " I don't recommend it however unless it is strapped to your waist with a proper holster that guards the hammer." On a 1911 and similar, a proper holster designed to carry condition one has a strap that comes across the butt of the slide between the hammer and the pin to prevent accidental discharge, in addition you have the grip safety so in reality, the gun is double safetied with an external and internal safety. Not many weapons can claim that level of safety.

A properly holstered 1911 in condition one is very safe, and yet has one of the fastest draw to fires of any semi auto around. Further there is no transition between double action and single action fire. So a "tap" is more likely to put two rounds on the target. Ich nicht verstehan das nuen mm KruchenKlinkers! Das handschutz ist sehr schlect!

After having a tackle box and some fishing poles stolen just weeks before, Clermont, Florida, resident Denton Tussing's anger took over when he was awakened by the sound of somebody trying to start his boat. Grabbing a rifle and rushing to his dock in his underwear, Tussing drew a bead on the would-be thief and demanded, "Hey buddy, step right out of the boat and sit out here...your___is mine." The whimpering suspect immediately complied and waited for police to come take him away.

It a tiresome subject at beast and one the courts droan over and over. Worse has very little to do with boating.

Now why not somebody tell some pirate stories !?

If you do not think this is boating related, read the thread about the now missing 4 crew members of the joe cool, maybe if they were armed? Who knows, but I know I will be....D.........

This week the local county jail had 2 convicted killers escape. This is rural southern Wyoming Northern Utah. There is amajor manhunt for them as this is posted. Just so happens our marina is a short walk from the town. I'm going down to the boat to prepare to take it out and you can be sure I will have backup up from Smith & Wesson

She is now claiming she was trying to fire a warning shot and accidentally hit the guy! LOL

The operator of a 48-ft. yacht owned by noted defense attorney F. Lee Bailey was ready for action when a boatload of pirates attacked the craft north of the Bahamas. Paul Roadman of Needham, Mass., returned the brigands' fire with a .30 cal. rifle, forcing them to break off their attack. When the Coast Guard inquired by radio whether he needed help, Roadman, hoping the criminals were listening, replied that he "had enough ammunition to start a war." The pirates disappeared.

follow up on the escaped killers. seems they broke in to the home of a"get this" retires Salt Lake Police Offier and tied up. took guns and a vehicle. they were captured and one shot about 2 hrs later near where I live. The good thing for me, as the US Marshals were searching the marina they noticed my boat had come loose in sever winds . They notified some one staying on the dock and retied it for me.

That is your #2 round. Use 00 for your #1. OO disables them, the slug puts them down on (then in) ground.

Where are these dangerous places you guys are so concerned about protecting yourselves from? I know if a boater was murdered or burgled while on his boat it would make it on to this board for the usual autopsy. I can't recall a single incident. Some Ro's here seem scarier than the bad guys out there.

This is why I have been posting the small paragraphs of actual incidents. It happens more than you would think. And remember, not all incidents even get reported.

Rather than call police on a possible false burglar alarm, which sounded from his nearby marina to his Lindenhurst, N.Y., home, Howard Rutherig, Jr. got his licensed cal. .38 pistol and rushed to investigate. Finding the marina's back door open, Rutherig entered and began firing when two men jumped him. One assailant fell, wounded in the stomach, and the second intruder, shot twice in the chest, escaped but was found dead near the boatyard a few hours later.

Returning to her Corbett Landing, Oreg., waterfront shop, Theresa Smith saw two suspicious men embarking in a runabout and discovered that her money was gone. When Smith got her revolver and ran to the dock demanding the return of her cash, the men put the boat in reverse, handed over the booty and then escaped empty-handed.
