I have had a claim with them from Hurricane Ike. I had damage from debris hitting the sides
of the boat and chipping gelcoat right above the water line, something took out my bow rail
and something smashed my radar. About 2 weeks after the hurricane, they called and asked me
to her her hauled and blocked. Since the asked to have her pulled, they paid for the pressure
wash and new bottom job also.
The adjuster came out, took a few pictures and input something into a computer and it spit out
a check. This was on a Sunday. I talked with the boat yard and they said the check would never
cover the damage. The boat yard called Progressive and gave them an estimate and Progressive
sent out a supplemental check. When almost done with the work, the boat yard said more money
would be needed. I called Progressive and they sent out a surveyor and a few days later another
check came in the mail.
Their service was quick and they are easy to deal with. I just bought a new bay boat and added
it to my other boat policy. I just walked into an office and gave them the model no. and serial
no. of the new boat and they printed out the policy and I paid the difference. The new boat cost
for insurance was about $240/year. That was about $300+ less than anyone else.
I do have a $1000 deductible, which drops the premium a lot. When I had damage from Ike, I did my
own pressure wash on the bottom and removed the old bow rail myself and did all the shipping of
the old and new bow rail instead of letting the boat yard do it and I came out without paying any
deductable on that claim. I also purchased and took out the old radar then installed the new one myself.
I had enough money left over to fill her up and take her out for a 3 day weekend.
Every Spring, they also send me an email with info. on what to do with my boat to help during a
hurricane.
I have had very good luck with them so far.
