Does anyone have direct experience with a claim.
I got a quote from them that was over 600 dollars less than what I have from ACE.
My current policy is agreed value theirs is not but other than that, their features are better such as no hurricane deductible.
I would be interested to know any direct claims experience.
I am in the insurance business but not in the p/c side. I have side by sided the policies and other than agreed value Progressive is superior.

I have had a claim with them from Hurricane Ike. I had damage from debris hitting the sides
of the boat and chipping gelcoat right above the water line, something took out my bow rail
and something smashed my radar. About 2 weeks after the hurricane, they called and asked me
to her her hauled and blocked. Since the asked to have her pulled, they paid for the pressure
wash and new bottom job also.
The adjuster came out, took a few pictures and input something into a computer and it spit out
a check. This was on a Sunday. I talked with the boat yard and they said the check would never
cover the damage. The boat yard called Progressive and gave them an estimate and Progressive
sent out a supplemental check. When almost done with the work, the boat yard said more money
would be needed. I called Progressive and they sent out a surveyor and a few days later another
check came in the mail.
Their service was quick and they are easy to deal with. I just bought a new bay boat and added
it to my other boat policy. I just walked into an office and gave them the model no. and serial
no. of the new boat and they printed out the policy and I paid the difference. The new boat cost
for insurance was about $240/year. That was about $300+ less than anyone else.
I do have a $1000 deductible, which drops the premium a lot. When I had damage from Ike, I did my
own pressure wash on the bottom and removed the old bow rail myself and did all the shipping of
the old and new bow rail instead of letting the boat yard do it and I came out without paying any
deductable on that claim. I also purchased and took out the old radar then installed the new one myself.
I had enough money left over to fill her up and take her out for a 3 day weekend.
Every Spring, they also send me an email with info. on what to do with my boat to help during a
hurricane.
I have had very good luck with them so far.

They also fax my new policy every year to the boat yard where we keep the boat, so I don't have to
deal with any of that.

i have them as well and submitted a claim when the outdrive on my previous boat became fond of a submerged rock. i paid the deductible and they handled the rest. the drive was an omc king cobra and someone had to be brought in to the marina to work on it. progressive covered it professionally and quickly.

My outdrive was stolen. They replaced it with a brand new one and all new hardware. The mechanics bill came to almost $12,000. I paid my $500. ded. and drove away.

I'm having a helluva time getting a good rate on insurance here in Florida.$1500yr for my 94 290 sundancer..I mean just damn that's a lot.Progressive wanted $1800.

I got a MUCH cheaper rate for our Glastron GS-259 through BoatUS.. agreed value too.. I had progressive last year, no claims though. The one thing I liked about progressive was the disappearing deductible, something BoatUS does NOT offer

I pay about $480/year for a '80 28 ft. Chris Craft, with a $500 ded.
It may be where you live. But We are in a hurricane vunerable area
also. We are just not in an area with a lot of boats. Most boats here
are trailerable bay boats and aluminum jon boats for inland fishing.
We have thousands of them, but just a few sports fishers and pleasure
boats.

1800 is not a bad rate I pay 2100 now.
What are you comparing good rate to?

I took an agreed value policy on my 38' Chris Craft. It is a 1993 Model. It seemed to me in a depressed boating market, placing the value of the boat where I wanted it, (in the event of a total loss) made more sense than a standard policy where the value of the boat would fluctuate with the economy and market, but the premium wouldn't.
I am with Progressive.
