Skip states that the forward birth can get a little pungent if the airconditioner below the rack is not kept clean.So he states that we should dump half a bottle of peroxide in the drip pan of the condensor.The fluid will travel down the tubing in the sump and be pumped out.Cleaning the entire system.The vaseline is to be applied to the inside of the female snaps on the canvas.This will allow for easier snapping.Another skip tip,use sealander products only.It was developed to preserve all the seals.I will have to go to my notes for further Skipism.My wife wants a compass binocular after learning to chart.
Skip also stated that you can apply Vaseline to any O-ring or gasket to keep it from drying out. A little Peroxide in the bilge would be OK as well. Basically he wants to prevent anything "Green" from growing in any of the standing water areas.
I highly recommend the binoculars with an internal compass. Usually they also have a built in rangefinder. Get 7x50's as anything more powerful is overkill for marine use.

I just got back yesterday from visiting the factory and spending a couple of days on the 4460 with Capt. Skip. I must say it was time well spent. At the factory I was able to see my 4460 in production. It is amazing the way the process works. I can feel very good knowing that the skill level of the people doing the building is quite high. It seems they have all been there for ever. They know their jobs.
The time with Capt. Skip was also extremely helpful! he took us through all the systems that I would be able to monitor. Some of this work would have to be performed by Volvo techs. I feel that when I take delivery of my boat, probably the end of May, I will already be very comfortable logistically with most of the boat. Having a couple of days to use the systems and playing with them have made things feel more at home. Skip Knows that boat in and out. I believe he said he had a hand in designing the boat.
I would totally recommend everyone doing the same. It will make all a more educated boater!
