Regal Captains Course

Billfish Congrats on your Regal purchase! Let us know all about the captains course.
Commonmedic, Congratulations on your Regal 4060 purchase! I have an 04 3860 with 8.1 Merc v-drives. It is a great boat, same basic hull and layout as your 4060. From everything I've heard and read about the IPS drives your going to love them! I'm glad Regal stepped to the plate for you. Be sure to let us know how that goes. I'm jealous of both of you I bought mine 2nd hand so no course for me; at least until I upgrade to the 5260 ;)

I will let you all know in six weeks.I am looking forward to the oppurtunity.

The captains course from Regal is a very valuble source of information for any boater! The captain of which I had was the best captain Skip Shepard. I didn't have the best understanding of plotting a course from paper charts to the Ray chart, and now I can plot a course to have my auto pilot take me wherever I want to go. Very cool. I belive this program is for all yatch, however it is taught on the 4460 with IPS WOW. Can't say enough about the IPS. Docking is no longer an issue with any level of experience. When paired up with Volvo diesel you have a group of gages that you can end up traveling 2.5 miles per gal. WOW. The next thing that was obvious was the way the boat pulls instead of pushing. I was lucky that Skip had a friend at the marina who let us use his 3880 2006 at the dock only. Over all I was very please that I bought a Regal.

The dealership said I will be with that very Captain.I cant wait for my wife to be trained .I know she would love the oppurtunity to go out with the girls, and me not having a stroke worrying.

Cant Take Take It With You

Bill,

Glad you enjoyed the course. I just spoke with Mary at Regal to schedule ours. I didn't realize the training was going to be on a 4660 but I'm sure there is so much else to learn it will be irrevelent. Hopefully we're going down in April.

Kent, do yourself a favor and make a list of what your weakness are and captain Skip will set you straight. He is really on the ball with a great attitude.

Thanks, Bill. Will do. We're going down April 9-10 and look forward to the experience. How many weaknesses can he deal with at once? :-)

I was very impressed with his knowledge. I belive the IPS on the 4460 is going to really WOW you. I couldn't belive how nice they performed in docking and on the go as far as keeping the boat level and efficiently. Have lots of fun and don't forget to go through the Regal plant it is well worth your time.

I called Capt. Skip today. He was at the Miami show and things were looking good for 08' I signed up for his course in the middle of April. I just ordered an new 4460 with IPS. We will take the factory tour on Thurs. and drive to St. Pete to stay on the same boat for a couple of days while learning the systems of the boat. He will taylor the experience to your specific needs. I just think that that can be nothing but great! I have not heard of other manufacturers doing anything even near this. Regal has a great idea here! There is something to say for a mediam sized family owned co. to do bus. with. Some of the manufacurers you just kind of get lost in the shuffle.

Cant wait til spring!

You will really enjoy the course. Skip is a wealth of knowedge. The IPS is out of this world in my opinion The best. Good Luck and have lots of fun.

Just checking in BILLFISH.Did you guys get adventerous and go to the Keys or stay near by.Any thing you suggest to bring along or be prepared for.We will be in St petersburg week of April 2nd.

I just stay in the bay. I cann't say enough about the IPS system it is the best thing I've seen out there for performance and handling. Maksure you go to the Regal plant while you are down there it is worth your time. Captain Skip is going to ask what your weakness are, food for thought. Good Luck and have lots of fun.

Oh my aching head,I need to support the noggin with both hands now that its filled with some of Skips knowledge.Does anybody know if he has stock in vaseline or Peroxide, sounds like they take care of everything from stinking to sticking.
What I do want to say is I appreciate and respect more, the knowledge that a good boater should have and needs. The funniest part of the training was my wife really enjoyed charting, and she now wants a pair of binoculars with a compass.Any body know of a good site for binoculars, her birthday is coming up.I will have to put on hold the chainsaw I thought she would like until next year.
With Skip doing the trainng of my wife driving and docking the 44 foot IPS boat,I was able to have a beer.It helped keep my mouth shut and improve the experience for my wife ( KINDABIGFEATHER).With the winds 20mph from the south it made for what I would have considered a challenging docking scenario, but with Skip coaching Sue she quickly learned to dock the boat.IPS = BOATING MADE EASIER AND MORE ENJOYABLE.
If you get a chance take Regal up on the offer, you everything to gain and nothing to loose ,unless you go to the Casino and Dog track, but thats another story.

I bought the Admiral some great Nikon binocs off of ebay real cheap. Now she watches all the eagles and hawks while we cruise and when I ask for a marker number I seem to interupt her bird watching activity.

How is the water level now with spring in full swing.I heard boating has been pretty tough for a while.I will have to look at ebay, since westmarine charges so much.

We just got back from our course with Capt. Skip as well and enjoyed the two days on the 4460. I agree with the Vaseline and Peroxide comment but don't forget the duct tape. Skip's Tips were very helpful and we found him to be a great instructor.

Although I agree the IPS 4460 was definitely amazing, we took a factory tour and saw the 5260 with IPS. It's pretty sweet. I highly recommend the tour and the two day course if you haven't done it yet. You'll learn a lot.

They, being Regal seems to get it.My feelings are they provide a family type business that will attempt to resolve any issues to the best of their ability.
Their facility up here has allowed me to come into their show room and take over.My three dogs and I have been showing up the past 4 days polishing and waxing in a nice warm clean facility.Any little blem I have found they have resolved very quickly.
I am not a fan of black hull boats,of course thats what I bought. But I will say as I near the end of prepping the boat,It sure is Pretty,I can read a news paper off the reflection. So as the clock nears nine o;clock I will prepare for another day of wax on wax off.I may be Nauti but the boat sure is Nice.
