Site continuation update

Pete, I'll figure something out once I get everything sorted out and up and running. I have made sure she knows that we will take care of it for her.

Brian, I, for one, don't think she ought to be paying the bills for this site now, or in the future. Firstly, because I'm sure she has much more on her plate, and lastly, the longer she is forced to do the paying, the sooner she will be tempted to dump it all and just bail out!
PLEASE let us know how much $ you need to pay Elaine and have enough to pay the bills until you can transfer this site to a modern workable one in Our control.

Suggest we save the KNOWLEDGE BASED, GROUP BRAIN TRUST valuable history in ASK THE CAPTAIN and ditch the history in NBR and the rest.

Offering a tab to SEARCH THE KNOWLEDGE BASE will make the new site more attractive to new blood

The new site must have VALUE to attract new blood

Without NEW BLOOD the site will die of attrition

Set up a section for CHARTER MEMBERS - those of us who contributed a minimum $$$ for the restart. This will encourage donations.

Mention LES as the inspiration and the continuation of the original MISSION.

KEEP THE NAME

RWS

Unfortunately a lot of the engine repair stuff is obsolete.

Okay guys, finally some good news. Our good buddy and fellow member Alk actually understands all this web stuff and is helping to devise a plan to get the site transferred to a more stable platform.

The plan at this point is to get the site moved, get it back up and running properly, and do our best to keep the treasure trove on info we have in some of the key Forums such as ATC, Engines, etc...

In the meantime, I am trying to get copies of the bills Elaine has been paying so that we can get her reimbursed. I will likely reach out in the near future for anyone willing to contribute to that.

I will keep you posted as things progress.

Not necessarily... a lot of us have boats that are 15,20 even 30 years old (or older) with engines that are the same age. So yes, the engine stuff is old and obsolete, but still usable for a lot of us. Man I miss GVP, what a fountain of knowledge.

The plan at this point is to transfer over posts from ATC, Engines, and the other major and active forums. More on that later as we figure it out.

Can you transfer over the Carver Owners forum, especially the very long thread about the 440 Express

We are still kicking around the migration plan - don’t want to bring all 45+ to the new home, but don’t want to lose anything valuable. Perhaps these to start with. Anyone think we are missing anything critical?

Marine Sanitation ( 18k)
Fishing , fresh and saltwater ( 3k)
Marine Detailing ( locked?) (25k)

NBR ( no migration)

LICC ( 62k)
HRCC ( 44k)
SF bay ( 18k)
Chesapeake and DE Bay ( 11k)
South Florida Boating Club. ( 11k)

Carver Owners (14k)

Let's be honest...same arguments...same names...different year...

But we all love it and enjoy it!

I can see it now:
Speedo: "Bill remember when you said, "------". this proves now that you were wrong."
Me: "Speedo, I never said that! Prove it!"
Speedo: Damn, I can't search for old NBR threads.
Me: HA! It's not what you think I said, but what you an prove I said.
<GRIN>

Get in your last reference-able arguments in before it’s too late! There is probably enough in the 20 years of nbr to get many of us fired, deplatformed, and otherwise shunned from society if it ever sees the light of day - I know I’ll sleep a little easier once it’s gone!

I hope most everyone has the correct email address in their profile, because there is no way to port the passwords from this site to the new one - so we will each have to reset our passwords - and that is likely going to require a valid email address on file. I don’t recommend changing your email now, even if it’s wrong, because not sure that functionality is currently working. Just be prepared for a bit of a delay getting yourself access on the new site if your profile email is not correct.
