I like the idea of the Electronic spark jumping the longer gap under more compression. It's just a plumb good idea and it works.
But over the years I've had both and, frankly, unless you have the engine on a 'Scope' you cannot tell if its running the Kettering ignition or the Electronic ignition.
In Alaska, and any other cold climate, the one GREAT feature of the 12V Electronic ignition systems was the very quick and reliable Cold starting in the winter. That's the one place where you'd notice the difference.
I wonder why this guy has an 1980 engine with the old Kettering setup?
My 73 Ford came with the Electronic ignition. I thought they all changed about that time.
