Does any one know what the spark plug gap is for a 1980 vintage Crusader 220Hp 305. I think it is 35 thousand of an inch. Putting in new NGK plugs.

Thanks,
Bruce

eletronic ignition? if not then now is the time to update as you can run more gap with eletronic its a much hotter spark ....we will not tune a boat with points

I can understand strongly recommending electronic ign but refusing doesent make any sense,, unless you forgot how :D

no its that eletronic is so much more reliable and the engines run much better with a hotter spark helps on milage too instead of the old idle timing of 8 degrees a system like the delco est idles at 18-20 it shows up as a quieter and crisper engine we even unhook the choke as they fire up quite well without it really does make a huge difference in how your engine runs and performs

I like the idea of the Electronic spark jumping the longer gap under more compression. It's just a plumb good idea and it works.

But over the years I've had both and, frankly, unless you have the engine on a 'Scope' you cannot tell if its running the Kettering ignition or the Electronic ignition.

In Alaska, and any other cold climate, the one GREAT feature of the 12V Electronic ignition systems was the very quick and reliable Cold starting in the winter. That's the one place where you'd notice the difference.

I wonder why this guy has an 1980 engine with the old Kettering setup?
My 73 Ford came with the Electronic ignition. I thought they all changed about that time.
