Does anyone have an explanation as to the additional charge for 2010 on the SPBM bill? And the "Service fee" that's been added?

BTW, just found out that Cheri is no longer in their employ, and that "Stew" has taken over the billing, etc...

BTW, the interest rate has apparently gone from 1% to 18%. Nice winter surprise... especially when Haverstraw has lowered their prices...

The extra money will be used to dredge the marina. :)

I still haven't gone by to give a deposit. Could you post a breakdown of your bill? You may save me a trip.

Apparently whoever worked up the bill didn't put the details on it -- the bill just read "summer 2010". There's the slip fee (76 / ft) (19 - 21 foot boats get a break). If you have air, it's $125 per conditioner, and the facility fee is $205 for over 36' (155 from 31-35). But all the bill stated was two "summer 2010" charges, so it was hard to relate what the heck I was being charged for (being naturally suspicious), though naturally I figured the larger number was the slip fee. I had called the marina this morning and was told to call back Monday, but they called back today and broke it out for me. So a "to-do" over nothing.

So, what was the "service charge"?

And what was the "additional fee"?

Has anyone gotten a bill prior to a statement saying that there is an 18% late fee. I stopped in on the 15th and paid my balance in full yesterday I got a statement that says I own for all the money I just paid plus 18% late fee. I just called to speak to someone and no one is there even though the hours say there are there until 4:oo. They can't keep this up they will chase us all out of there. No only did Haverstraw lower their price but they have water as well. I love my marina I do not want to leave but they are making it harder and harder to want to stay. I would be will to bet Wayne is not behind this and would probably not be happy to hear that his management is pissing off his customers.
I understand they are trying to make money and make the boss happy but this does not seem like the way to do it. If I understand this right a customer can come to the marina in April and pay for a slip and there is no late fee they will pay the same price per foot as we do. If paying early is to hold our slip then they have the right to give away our slip not charge us a late fee for services not yet rendered. This makes no sense to me someone please explain.

Maybe if they lowered their pricing they would full the empty slips and make more money and not have to bleed their loyal customers for every last nickel. Supply and demand this is have things work in America when people are fighting over the slips then you can raise your pricing.

The "additional fee" was the second Summer 2010 charge for 330 -- it was not specified on the bill that that was for the AC and facility charges. There was also a "service fee" that I was told to ignore.

I might as well hold off the deposit and save the finance charge. They need to offer an incentive for people to stay there summer and winter. If you gave summer custoemrs a break for winter pricing and vice versa they would retain more year round boats. Also there is no reason someone coming in on April 1 should pay the same or less w/o financing for the same slip. If you are giving a deposit it is a lock for you to return and the marina to count on your revenue. You don't need a Harvard degree to figure out the basics between a marina keeping afloat and sinking.

Hogan I assumed the service fee was interest and after reading this I'm not sure. I just don't understand how I can pay my bill in full on the 15th then 2 weeks later get a bill that is dated the 12th and has a service charge of $35.99 with no explanation. Maybe it's time to find a new hobby one that doesn't cost more than $10,000 a year over and above the cost of the boat.

I called the marina today to guestion the service fee, they told me it was a mistake with the computer and they need to call their computer guy to fix the add on service fee. I asked what it was for anyway and they could not tell me but said not to worry about it. I also asked about the 18% on the bill and asked when are we are suppose to have summer dockage paid by, they said before the boat is put in so I said by April 15 they said yes. So I believe the 18% will be for people who do not pay by the 15 of April

I'm glad to hear this! It's not the $36 dollars it's the lack of reason that got to me. It's sad they fired the only one that new how to use the computer. I paid cash for the balance of $2,400 that I owed them and they couldn't give me a paid in full receipt instead they send me a bill with additional fees it's just sad.
I hope they have a record of payment and the bill was just a mistake.

That's why I only pay with credit card.

I have a paper receipt I'm sure they will not Question I just find it annoying that I got a bill when I made a point of paying early. I try to pay bills the way I would like my customers to pay them early. It helps cash flow.

And I had an invoice marked "paid in full" last year and they still came and tried to screw me out of $1100!!!!!!

NEVER EVER NEVER EVER pay them with cash.

They certainly go out of their way in their attempts to drive you guys out of the marina.

The truth is there is no where better to go at least affordable. I like it there, but if I where to leave it would be to leave the Hudson. Although I love the Hudson I have been boating here a long time and I enjoy exploring new places this would be much easier on the sound. In a few years when both kids are out of school I would like to try it before I retire and get out of boating because I can't afford it any more.

There was some talk on this forum a while ago about SPBM measuring boats with a tape measure. Any more on that or will just use the length on the registration like Gene did.

I was told this by Guy himself. It's making my think twice about adding a swim platform.

How is the marina next door, Patsy's? They have a pool and playground.

How can they change the price on the bill, when I gave them my deposit I recieved a total bill with my deposit amount and it was for the size of my boat not the LOA.
