SPBM

At Haverstraw, if you go around the SW corner by the boat sales you can get into very "skinny" water at low tide and even go aground. Little islands do appear. Never ever give way to an on coming vessel. Believe me!!

Todd, I stand corected, you are right, its not a $600.00 difference, sorry about that, its $728.00 for me. I was off $128.00. Sorry for the large large difference. So for $728.00 more a season,
I'm getting:
Deep water, go and come anytime.
Clean pool, I don't believe they use Clorox there.
The pool is open when it should be.
If there is an issue there are people to go to.
No seaweed near the jey ski docks.
Calm water, not to worry when weather turns real bad, yuo don't need 18 lines to stop you boat from jumping on the dock.
O Yes lets not forget, useing the bathrooms when it rains, that's always good.
I could go on, but I guess the difference is clear, to me at least.

Are you counting metered electric and pool fee? Because the contract they gave me did not include pool and i was charged loa and it was about 1100.00 more without pool and electric. You must know someone. :)

What they told you is between them and you.
To be frank, it doesn't matter to me what they told you.
The price I paid is for my slip, Family pool and jet ski dock.
I did not included electric, since I don't run my AC or any electric except on weekends,FOR ME ITS NOT A COST. $728.00 more than I paid SPBM last season.

I'm paid in full, I think I know how much money I gave them.

Todd,
(Know Someone)
Are your saying that Haverstraw Marina has different prices for different people.

I can tell they do not !
They treat everyone fair and equal, that statement you made is without basis.

Even though the cost is higher and you do get charged for metered electric and the pool it is more than worth it. Not looking at tide charts to make weekend plans is worth it alone. You will also be very happy with how quickly Haverstraw deals with and resolves issues. You call them and they are there within a few minutes. The only down side is that it can be a bit of a walk on weekends from far out in the parking lot to your slip, and they at times could have a few additional dock carts around. The good points however are:

Deep Water
Fantastic professional and friendly staff
Great docks
Calm protected water - and did I say deep
Clean pool - they charge for it but so did SPBM a few years ago
Working bathrooms
Great restaurant on site
Security gate with key card access to docks
Fully stocked ships store on site
etc..

That is why I believe it is worth the extra money, and I wish we had made the move years ago.. It appears that many people are making the move so many must agree with these points. As last season was my first year there I was amazed at the number of former SPBM folks who had moved over to HM.... Happy Holidays everyone....

Did they charge you for LOA. Its 30.00 more than SPBM my boats LOA is 41 and they had my LOA in their computer. 30 x 41 is 1230.00 not including family pool pass or metered electric. Maybe my math is off?

Yes they do as most marinas will. If you were not charged for LOA at SPBM then you got lucky, but most people were. You will get more than $1,230.00 in extra enjoyment from HM as you can go in and out when you want, not when the tide chart says you can.... I'm just sayin'

FWIW - Haverstraw will and does come and measure all boats in the marina during the course of the season. There was a boat just like my current one behind me when we where at Haverstraw and they were paying for 48'.

Mid-way thru the summer they got hit for another 7' once they measured from pulpit to edge of swim platform.

Thanks john could not figure out how they were figuring my contract. I was going to go to staples and get new calculator.

Yep, the one year I was there, they measured my boat and sent me a bill for an extra couple of feet.

It would be nice to have enough water under the boat not to have to worry about it, but for me, it's the people that make the marina - both owners and fellow boaters.

I'll live with dealing with the tides and the occasional rocking we get from boat wakes because I am very happy where I am. If that ever changes, I would consider Haverstraw.

Since you Haverstraw guys don't have to worry about tides any more, no more excuses for not going out!

" . . . O Yes lets not forget, useing the bathrooms when it rains, that's always good"

Wayne; I would hold off on that perc until after you have used the bathrooms once or twice on a week-end, rain or shine. ;{

I'm Perfect, but hey that's just me, and we will be perfectly happy next season as well. [:-bonc01]

Tis da season to be JORRY, FAR RA RA RA RA....RA RA RA RA.... ! [;-xmas][;-xmas]

I'm sensing a little tension around here! No one is twisting any ones arms to make the move. If any one feels it's not worth the money and they are content where they are then be all means stay where you are and enjoy! I think anyone that make's the move will be happy and enjoy their new home, if not I guess they can always move back the following year. No one denies that it will cost more but then you get what you pay for!

If I ever down size I would consider other option if money was tight but until then I'm staying right where I am. Oh did I mention they have deep water:)
