SPBM

Maybe they are talking about the northern part of the marina. There wasn't very many boats there last season. I'm sure all of the people there could fit in slips in SPBM since some boats won't be back this summer. I am only speculating. I have no first hand knowledge about this. I paid my deposit two weeks before the storm so I am guarenteed a slip.

"I am guarenteed a slip" only if there are slips to be had.

could be he couldn't get a dredging permit for the northern end. just a thought, not a fact.

Found another use for the property? Perhaps he just can't continue to lose large sums of money each year as his marina business dries up.

I wonder really what the depth of the water is now in SPBM. The storm had to deposit a ton of junk and silt in the Marina. There was no water at low tide before the storm. I guess the outboards and stern drives will be ok, but the inboards are a different story.

I heard he is forecasting a much stronger service business this coming season.

The storm washed the junk and silt up on shore. There is no need to dredge, the storm already took care of that. There is now 10' in all of Stony Point Bay.

Hey, here's a question:

They are building a new TZ bridge, they will have to get tons of steel and concrete to build it. SPBM is right next to railroad tracks. Wouldn't it be easy to bring it in by train and then load it onto barges there and bring it down river?

That is how Haverstraw Marina came to be. They dredged it and used it for the staging area for the original bridge.

Haverstraw Marina was a claypit from the brickyard days. They built bridge sections in there on barges then opened it up to the river to float the sections to Nyack. Before the marina was there we used to water ski in there when the river was rough. There was a dirt ramp where the service dock is on the north side.

I haven't seen any articles in the paper about where they plan on staging the new bridge. I know Nyack is too shallow too far out to make it an option. That's why they went north to Haverstaw last time.

the staging area for the new bridge is just entering the committee stage.
four to five years will be needed to form 2 committees to discuss where the staging area will be.
then the lawsuits brought on by the treehuggers will start.

I have no info on this either however like I said whatever Wayne does he will made money! So this would not surprise me at all, maybe this is way he is only working on one section of the marina I guess we will all find out soon.

That is a CSX mainline single track to Chicago. There are track sidings nearby but I do not think the CSX can tie up that line with special trains. A siding is where a there is a parallel track to the main road where trains pull off to either let a train from the opposite direction pass or let a faster train from behind pass. They use those sidings all of the time.

CSX cannot tie up that main artery, it is their lifeblood from NJ to the midwest.

Lets speculate for a moment as this is what we all do best. He could make a deal with the state and at the end of the building of the new bridge he could have the biggest deep water marina on the river.

He does not have time for moving steel, he is working on dredging, fiberglass repairs and making it a world class Marina, Resort, and RV park.
