SPBM

And some good news, they started working on the fuel dock in Haverstraw!

I drove by yesterday, and saw that.

I wonder how the dredging is going at SPBM?

So what's the word? Are they really going to dump next to other marinas?
I also wonder what they will find when they start? Boats, docks and who knows what!

It's still just a rumor, and I can't confirm it yet, . . . . but this thread has come to the attention of the staff at Haverstraw Marina. I appears that they were not aware that they were the deepest port in the area, and furthermore they were not aware that so many boaters were relocating to their slips.

They have therefore decided to raise their prices by $6 a foot on all boats under 30' and $12 a foot on all boats over 30'. They only want to make sure that everybody is paying their fair share and will add these prices onto previously paid deposits for 2013.

Again, this is just a rumor so far, but does merit some discussion.

You had me run and check my receipts :-) there was no increase in rates and I just paid yesterday.
They are WELL aware they are the deepest port in the area, it is one of the biggest selling points. You are correct however they do read the threads on BoaterEd and at times they contact the RO who posted to address their concerns which I think is a great customer service. They have been nothing but nice and professional. I hope the rates stay as they are for next year.

Allen you are to late I heard they gave away your slip:) I paid over a month ago not taking any chances considering the increase demand for slips this year.

Good morning Mike. Looks like today we turn 19, by the end of the weekend maybe 20.

At our boat club, we are expecting less of a demand for slips. Based on the fact more people exited from boating than entered this

Allen, The "new" charges will be hiden in the electric rates, pumpout surcharge, Octoberfest surcharge, and "clean bathroom" added value tax.

Was up at SPBM today and they have repaired the barge and it was in use on G dock with a back hoe on it digging. Not sure what exactly was going on but they were doing something out there.

I heard that someplace as well Pete. I cant remember where it was.

I predict that SPBM is open next spring before Patsy's. Wayne can afford to do the repairs now and get his insurance check later. Keep putting updates on SPBM's progress. I'm south for the winter so I can't run down and take a look. Why are some of you who don't keep a boat at SPBM or left so concerned about how Wayne is doing. I assure you he is doing fine.

I'm rooting for him and his customers. I still have many friends there and would like to see them have a marina to enjoy come spring.

I dont know them, i dont have friends there either. I care because i want to see fellow boaters/marinas get their life together, recuperate and run their business again. Actually some of us also keep their boats there in the winter!

I agree with that Royal. I don't know many people there anymore and constantly hear crazy stories about the place, but regardless, they are fellow boaters and if that is where they choose to be I wish only the best for them and hope necessary repairs are made so they can get back in without missing a beat of boating season!

Amen to that!!! :-)
