I think its time to start thinking about setting up a date to get together this summer.
So what are some good dates and places to meet?

One suggestion is Moores, since most boaters are in that area.
Dates---June, July or Aug?

How thoughtful of you to plan a dock party so close to my BIRTHDAY! [August 5]. I've penciled this in on my calendar. Sounds like fun!

That is a a tough weekend for me... How about the 24,25 and 26th of July?

Those dates are OK with me also.

I'll definately try to make this one for sure! Moores is a great location IMHO (my Father had a boat at Korths many moons ago).

I'm off July 31st - Aug 2nd. But I have to work on the second date mentioned...FWIW.

I saw the mention in the BDYM. That original forum with Hal was pretty cool. I don't think everyone made it over here...?

I have to brag a little bit, as I paid for the software on the original .org forum (it wasn't much, but Hal said the COC wouldn't pay, and I/we wanted a dang forum! LOL. Hal even mentioned me by name in the little write up in the forum description. Sure miss him...

I'd like to make the summer get together. I have a small cuddy, so would make it a day trip. Not sure if there are any drag racing fans here, but the weekend of July 24 - 26 is the Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway.

Ginman - how bad is traffic around Sears Point on race weekend? Is it as bad as when NASCAR is there? My son has been asking to go see dragsters in person, and I was thinking about going this year. I've seen them do halftrack tuning passes in Houston, but never seen a real race.

We're counting on you making it with your boat, Brian. I'll have mine up and running by then. She's on the hard now getting a running gear repair, injector pump repair and a belly makeover.

Have you started the lessons yet? How's it going?

etyppo, not sure if it is as bad as NASCAR. Haven't been to either in years. If you don't really care who wins and just want to see the racing, go on Friday. Smaller crowds and it is much cheaper. I used to practically live there in the Sears Point days and when I lived in Marin. Infineon I'm sure is a whole new ballgame. Bring hearing protection - the nitro-methane top fuel and funny cars is probably the loadest noise you will hear in your life. Awsume to watch.

ginman - thanks for the info. The top fuel dragsters are something else. My car shook out in the parking lot a long way from the track in Houston when they were making 1/8th mile passes. I think the loudest thing I've ever heard was actually at Sears Point (can't bring myself to call it Infineon). A B1 flew over the NASCAR race several years ago, and it was unbelievably loud. The F18s on afterburner that flew over ahead of it sounded like Cessnas by comparison.

I'm in - nothing scheduled that weekend. Sounds like fun - Moores is a bunch closer for me. Nitro Methane - the greatest smell on earth!!! Your son will never forget it - such a good time and so awsome to see!

Jim, I was wondering when you were going to post up on this thread. I was thinking maybe after that last get together you may have thought you had enough of those people. LOL

I too would like to attend, but why are we doing it at a dock in the middle of summer? Summer is the time for raft-outs where people can get in the water to swim, take dinghy rides and eat & drink our own concoctions instead of paying restaurant prices. There are many places to do it ... Mildred Island, Georgiana Slough, Three River Reach, etc. Let's actually use our boats instead of tying up at a dock! Just my humble opinion of course, the majority will decide what is best.
