Summer Get-together

At first, I thought the same thing, Dave. But there are several boats without the battery/gen power, dingy or head facilities for extended stays on the hook. I'd happily share what I have with others if that'll help. For those who have never anchored out for a few days, it gives a real sense of independence and seclusion that you don't get tied up to the dock.
 
The anchor-out suggestion sounds like an interesting option. If somebody would let me tie my Crownline cuddy up to their bigger boat, it would work as a floating tent. There's always the option of doing both a dockside and anchor-out get together. There's alot of nice weather coming up.

Dvan, no way have I had enought - it's a great group! I totally enjoyed the get together and wouldn't miss the next! Don't know if you saw the post, but a few weeks back when you went to Moores and I didn't make it on sat, I ran over Sunday morning to say hello, but you had already left! I got there about 9:00, but you said you left before that - I tried! I must admit I have been on here less, but I have been so busy. I swear I might go back to work just to have a rest - I never worked so hard until I retired! I was at the boat this last weekend, and will be down next but only Sunday afternoon until tuesday - I have a USPS meeting on Monday night.
I vote for Moores - it is just a really different place and one where people can either be crazy dancing, or just hang on the boats. We will need to put a hold there by getting in first as I don't think they take reservations. I will probably bring my Seadoo Explorer - it holds 4-5 people - and if there are a few other dinks, we can take a cruise around the corner to the bedrooms and little potato slough - might be fun to go for a swim out of the mainstream (you don't want to swim with the Koi in front of Moores!)

Yea, Jim I was just joking. I thought you were probably busy. I know what you are saying about being busy, I usaully have about 4 or 5 projects going on at the same time.

I am up for a raft up, anywhere is fine with me.
 
I just sent an email off to Martinez Mitch so we can get another date worked out so everyone can attend.
Rafting up is a great idea. I have never done it and I am willing to give it a shot. That involves more planning etc... But would be kewl either way it goes...
ginman can tie up to Grattitude if ya want there will be plenty of space to tie up to just about anywhere or anywho...
 
I'm in regardless. I think the raft up idea is a good one. Get off the dock.

Jim,

Would that be the Postal Service or the Power Squadron? I really can't picture you out running around in a white uniform with epaulets and a live jacket on at all times [:-bigeyes]
 
I'd like to make it to the next one and with all of people who may want to meet up I'd suggest perhaps Moore's may not be the best location for all. I like to stay up late and get a bit crazy now and then but if it's a weekend at Moore's no one is going to sleep until after the band is done and the bar has shut down. We anchored out about 1/4 mile down stream last summer and it was loud there at 1:00 AM! If you all choose Moore's, just be aware.

I also am hoping to get to the Autolite Nationals! Where ever it ends up I hope to make it so long as my calendar is open.

I can't picture him in blue/gray shorts with a dark stripe down the side, carrying a leather sack and wearing a safari hat, either.

Hey, Phil, maybe you could make sure everyone rafts up properly? I hate it when the raft up ends in the tules with anchor rodes all twisted around one another!!!!

I'm up for either if the date is good for me....

Just wait till the commodore sees you sitting on a boat with a cocktail instead of your PFD![:-bigmouth] I've often thought it might be fun to join either the CG Auxiliary or the Power Squadron so as to help other boaters, but uniforms are not my cup of tea! Of course if I was a retired guy with a boat and an RV/Bus and nothing to do all day I might need to fill my time.[}}:-|>>]

BTW, my boat already passed this year, I'll have to wait for your big inspection next year. Should I be replacing all the bar soap with powdered soap in preparation?
 
I should be able to come up for the day on 2 Aug. If I have to cross the San Joaquin between buoys 54 and 49 I may radio you folks before I start across, I get a little wobbly when crossing there by myself. 3 years ago I was crossing there around 4:15p and some big boats were late for the bikini contest at Mooers they bounced me around pretty good with their wakes.
 
DD maybe you wouldn't be so wobbly if you laid off the "sauce" until you reached Moore's!!! LOL

I can give you a tow across. As long as we go slowly, everything will be fine.....
 
I hadn't had any sauce that day, was comming down the Moke from Wimpys for lunch. I love that expression wobbly, I picked it up from Margret Thatcher telling the 1st George Bush this was no time to go wobbly. You don't have to tow me but I would be grateful for an escort accross or someone just knowing I was crossing so they could come look for Pegasus life jackets in the water if I didn't show up because some big go fast boats were late for the contest at Moores and tipped me over with their wakes.
 
You got it! Just give a holler on your VHF when you're ready for an escort.
 
Moores would work for me assuming I'm not busy on the weekend chosen.

Jim, I'm planning on going to Oxbow Sunday to HOPEFULLY wash my boat. If you're around, I'll come by and say hi.

Picking on the go fast crowd or are ya just kidding around? [:-idea] I'd rather be rocked by a go fast wake than a 30+ foot cruiser's any day. Just remember that the go fasts get on top of the water and leave a modest wake unless they are slowing down or leaving. It's the cruisers like most of us have that plow the water and create huge wakes. I know, I have made pretty big wakes from my 28 when just below planning speed or have come off plane, so large its embarrassing!
 
Maybe DD thinks going 9 NPH is a "go fast"!!! LOL After all half the time he putts around with his little electric motor......

PS A raft if fine with me. Although my little 21' has a head and sink, I had an idea.

How about if we tie-up the smaller vessels on the outside of the group, allowing them to easier break off if needed? They could run errands for ice or whatever if needed? My $0.02 worth...
