He basically looked at everything.
I found more things wrong than he did.
He did the tapping of hull and moisture checks, that is key.
He didn't do much with motors like check motor mounts.
I have seen a few surveys and they all have varying degrees of thouroghness.
As boaters, we know more than the surveyors sometimes.
If your a new boater then its well worth it.
I tested everything on my new boat personally.
I know the boat well, so I know where everything is, what does what, and how things work.
My only issue was noone actually checked my motors or IPS drives but fluids looked good, boat ran and handled like a charm, and is still in warranty, so what was my risk!
Like I said before on a older boat, I would have a mechanic pull motors apart. Check manifolds, fluids, mounts, etc. That is the big bucks. A/C, heat, water heater, fridge, bilge pumps, you can do. Hull, have it moisture checked and sounded out. So a weak cheap survey with an expensive mechanic by hour is way I would go on a older boat out of warranty.
Many a good expensive survey has resulted in expensive repairs. Ask anyone here. They miss things.
