Considering a boat and would need the services of a good surveyor for both hull and engine.

Any issues for performing the survey on the hard with no option for sea trial.

Thanks,
Mark

Google Tranquil Waters Marine Services. He comes highly recommeded. About 1 hour from Richmond.

Google Ray Walden, he is on the richmond side of Deltaville

used him and very pleased with his work

When you say "no option for sea trial", do you mean now?, when the survey is being done, or later, prior to closing and/or final payment?, or never? If you mean never, than much will depend on the boat and its power, though generally speaking, one should not purchase a powerboat without a thorough sea trial. Therefore, to answer your question directly, yes, there are issues...

Sounds like a Repo from commonwealth. Nice guy to deal with, but no sea trials.

You nailed it. No sea trials ever. They also want it off their property pretty quickly after closing. We haven't come to an agreed purchase price yet, still waiting.

I spoke wiht him about a boat and made an offer online that he countered with the lowest price the bank would consider which was too high for me so I passed. I'm sure he would have countered lower.

Mark, If the vessel is not sea-trialed under load conditions there could be undesirable conditions to deal with after the purchase. I would never advise anyone to buy a boat with out it.

Buying a boat without a sea trial is like buying a car without driving it.

FWIW, Commonwealth Brokers has been around for a long time and I don't recall any real negative posts about them here or other boating sites. In fact, just the opposite.
I won't swear to it, but didn't Mrs.Robinson just recently buy his boat there?
I do agree, buying a boat without a seatrial would scare me.
