I have plans for two stops in NJ in Aug. 1st stop three nights in Atlatis, Channel Club only had one slip and I'm going with another boat. BTW although Party of Five didn't post it he enjoyed his stay there. 2nd Stop three nights in Belmar.

I'm looking for a 3rd stop on the way home maybe Brooklyn but I'm open for suggestions. Is there a marina near Coney Island worth visiting? I'm looking for a place to spend two nights, worst case I will add one night to each of my other stops but I enjoy a change of scenery.

Thanks for any input.

Liberty Landing and take a water taxi into the city for the day.

I suggested that to the wife and she had no interest. For the record I agree sounds like a good idea. She said she can drive to the city anytime, neither of us love the city although I'm going to see a show this Wed go figure.

atlantic highlands has some good places to eat but not alot at the marina (Memphis pig out for some good barbeque)

I looked at that one too I'm not sure that's a two day stop but it's on the list. I was hoping for something different that's why I was thinking something like Coney Island but again this was just a thought.

Any other thoughts welcome please keep them coming.

We did have a good time. Atlantis Yacht club was very clean and quiet. Walk to the beach, town and Sally T's. They have a great inground pool for the kids as well as a playground, tennis courts and just a wonderful location. Steve, the dockmaster was very helpfull and offered tons of local advice. Anything we were looking for he either provided or told us how to get it.

Tell Sam Mike says "Hi!" He has a Silverton called Silver Fox. He was very nice and a great guy to talk with.

Pier Village - A $8 cab ride away. Nice place to head for dinner or a stroll along the ocean.

Thanks for the pics looks great can't wait however I still need one more place to go for two nights.

Dave, I can't think of any worthwhile place to go between Sandy Hook & Stony Point. I agree with your feelings on NYC.

You could go out to the sound, but you've already been there.

Hogan I'm thinking I may hit Norwalk I will plot it and see how far out of the way it is. I don't think it's that far and I usually go there once a year but I haven't gone this year yet.

Well I just did the math and maybe not it's 86 mile drive from Belmar. Back to the drawing board.

Can you hold the one slip at Channel Club with the hope that a second slip opens up? Let Channel club know your intentions so as not to screw with them and cancel in time if a second slip doesn't open.

How about a quiet night at anchor somewhere where you can watch the NY harbor traffic and city lights?

Sweetness we think a like I was just there a few weeks ago I really like it there but twice in a month is a bit much.

I'm now looking at Irwins on the Navesink River just a thought. I'm not opposed to spend a night or two on a hook, in a safe harbor I just don't new the area well. In speaking to a couple of friends they said the anchored out near Atlantic Highlands and had problems with jelly fish clogging both the AC and genny intakes, this doesn't sound like much fun.

Dave, we had jellyfish clog the intakes last July 4th on the Navasink. Luckily it was only about 100 degrees and we didn't dare jump in the water with all the jellies...

How about the Mollie Pitcher? I've heard good things about it.

Dave, did you get your genny fixed? Tough to stay on the hook without one.

Yes I fixed it on Sunday found a bad connection inside the control box that Ben wanted me to open. I got some advice on another site and zeroed in on the problem.

I have never been there but I have heard it has gone down hill over the last few years but it might be great I really don't know. It's worth a look.

I may just leave the last to nights open and play it by ear, this way if I really like one of the stops I can spend an extra day or two but if not I can always drop a hook somewhere.

If you are in that area Irwin Marine isn't a bad place to stay for a night or two. Red Bank is a nice town, plenty of good places to eat and you can walk around and check out all the little shops.

Mollie Pitcher doesn't allow pets so don't even try to bring one. Also be prepared to be run out of the by 11:30AM, dock master has strict rules over there.

What's the deal with the Jelly Fish I was told they will clog my strainers in a few minutes. I don't like the sound of that two days in the heat with no AC doesn't sound much like a vacation to me.

I just redid the math and Norwalk is only 36 miles out of the way which round trip is about 3 hours I think this may be the way to go I really like it there I go almost every year at least once and I haven't been there yet this year so it may be time and they don't have a jelly fish problem.
