Guys ,
I spoke to JJ from Watch hill. HE said the marina is good to go BUT the tides are 8" higher then normal and 8" lower then normal. This is a huge problem in my opinion for the entrance Channel. Nothing large has gone in yet so I guess we will have to wait and see. He did say the waters clearer then its ever been and u can actually see the bottom They fished out a bunch of lawn chairs from previous years that have collected in the middle of the marina.

Seatow just posted that most the entrance buoys are gone . 2 are on station and one is 50 yards off station .

Wtf it's April . This is bull****

From Pam ( FOWH )

Good Morning Rob,

The Park Service will reset and place all the buoys in time for the upcoming season. Don't know the exact timing but we plan to ask them at a meeting next week. The Park Service always manages to get them in and set prior to the marina opening date which I believe is May 11. I'll let you know of the meeting outcome.

Regards,
Pam

It's April but they don't open till the middle of May ;) Still plenty of time!

John,

If Rob couldn't bitch about markers at this time of year, what else would he do? Doesn't matter that he doesn't have his boat yet.

The town of Merrick is probably wondering what happened to him.

Watch Hill Work/cargo ferry ran aground on approach last week. They are supposed to mark the approach with pilings now. Big meeting on may 1st. Will advise

Also The entrance and the marina is due to be dredged in October.

Email from Friends of Watch hill.

No electric in the Marina until further notice

Rob

And no advance reservation weekend in June either. Parks dept bunch of a-holes. Same mensa candidates that think boats in day slips running generators has less carbon footprint than providing electric.

That lack of reservation In June sux.
I liked that because it gave you Fourth of July too.
Oh well.

Read on Newsday.com this morning that Sailor's Haven only has the west side slips open, and no electrical available to boats. Report did not include any indication when the rest will open and if and when electrical will be available.

I was surprised they were able to have the reservations last year that late in June. Group reservations are supposed to be during off-season, they were leading into July 4th. I remember there were people there who arrived early thinking they were set for the holiday week and then got kicked out. They should do it the previous weekend.

John
Good point. I sent Pam an email to that effect.
Reading everywhere that the channel is bad.

Mark

The douche bag that caused the issue last year was told when he arrived what the deal was . It was only after other friends of his came and are friends of watch hill did it become an issue . I ll remember the boat if I see it .....

People suck

Rob

Apparently they can't do the week before because the Power Squadron already has it.

Isn't peak season anything after Memorial Day? If so, will the power squadron still be able to reserve for the weekend that Mark is talking about?
