Watch Hill Update Post Sandy

In my email with Pam, she led me to believe that it is only impacting FOWH for the last week of June. When I asked her about the prior weekend she said the PS had that one already booked.

Kinda annoying that the Parks Dept overrode the concession to block FOWH at the last minute. Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you.

I seem to recall that this FOWH weekend was earlier in years past.

We still may try to go anyway if the weather is good.
 
Electric can still not be turned on at watch hill pending inspection . No electric this weekend . No boats are permitted to run generators with in the marina .

I guess this could affect memorial day since I was considering leaving Wednesday to get in!.
 
Typical government run operation.

No big deal since weather blows. Being a dock Mary here.
 
Just heard electric is not on .... Possible tomorrow , like Dave said it doesn't matter as weather sucks
 
Just in........

Fire Island Concessions asked us to provide you with an update regarding the electrical availability at the Watch Hill Marina. The Concession said the underwriter will arrive at Watch Hill tomorrow, Friday, May 24th between 11 AM and 1 PM. The Concession expects to be granted the underwriter's certificate which will allow them to turn the power on in the marina. The Concession will contact us tomorrow following the underwriter's inspection and we will update you at that time.

Given what the weather looks like I'm definitely not going this weekend. Just got back from a 10 day boat charter in the Virgin Islands also so can use a weekend to catch up. I'm hoping to get to Watch Hill next weekend if the weather cooperates and we can fit it in.
 
We are at watch hill. No power yet but it's on. Just waiting for inspector
 
Power is on.
Not full at all.
Plenty of slips.
Maybe 20 boats here
 
Buoys are all in.
Low spots at entrance.
I saw 4' 5" under boat so it's more at second set of buoys coming in.
Then low at entrance after last set of buoys but better if you swing wide.
I heard some people touched but I was fine and I draft at 46".
They say stay to the red side as its better.
