I'm glad that I'm reading all these posts. We are looking to upgrade from our current boat to something larger. My 2 takeaways since I spend a lot of time at Watch Hill is keep the beam under 12' and keep the shore power at 30A/120V. once we pull the trigger on something new I'll be asking you all for information about block island, and other trips we can make.
That would mean the slip next to you is empty, what's the chance of that happening? Many years ago at WH I got in a slip on B land I think it was on a Memorial Day weekend and the slip next to me was open most of the weekend and I was able to get power using the adapter and the other pedestal. But with only one plug per pedestal there that's not going to happen often. As of 11am this morning there was only 4 slips open with 14.5' beam and 110 power...
Tomorrow I'm going to fish, there's a chance now we're going to anchor out by Sailor's Haven for the weekend, depending on weather and what the others want to do. Otherwise if you guys stay local I may stop by the AYC to say hi

We can raft up by Sailors.
But why does slip have to be empty.
You split both 50 amp 125v to two.
Guy next to you uses one of his and one of yours.
You do the same.

No use a 50amp to two 30 amp splitter on both poles.
Now you have four 30 amp outlets with two on different legs.

Watch Hill was great. Met some very nice people.
Just can't understand people who run their boats around without a clue as the gouge in my bow puplit attests. And that guy wasnt even docking next to me! Also wish I had a dollar for everyone who came in with no lines ready. One guy had no lines on the boat! Just wow.

Interesting ride home to Freeport.
I don't know how you guys deal with all the boats from Captree through the inlet. Like driving around Roosevelt Field Mall.
Running a few miles off the beach a 30' Albemarle is running east but closer in to the beach. All of a sudden he makes a sharp turn to the beach and stops abruptly with huge plume of black smoke. I think that can't be good and I am keeping an eye on him. Then I hear the mayday to the CG on 16. I turn sharply and head over calling the CG to let them know I am on site and what I see. Some smoke is still coming out of his engine room vents. Two guys have their PFDs on. Boats are rocking so I hung about 15 yds away in case they had to jump in the drink. Radioed the CG the coordinates and waited with them for 20 mins just east of the JB Theater. No active fire (unlikely as it was a diesel) but I was concerned the wind and tide were taking him to the beach.
Must have been a slow day because the CG shows and I leave passing Sea Tow, the Bay Constable and the NC Police boat all going to him. Last I heard he was in tow back to Jones.

Guy was lucky you were there.
One of the reasons I don't like running alone in ocean.
As for Captree, we don't run that way that often and when we do it is on plane in channel and go around fisherman.
Watch for single finger salutes and flying sinkers!
Hey , get out of the channel, plenty of good fishing out of channel.
