In an effort to get some chatter going during these long spells without many topics... would you consider letting our fellow members in this forum know what you do for a living, etc.?? It might be interesting to see how all our paths have crossed or not. Just an idea, If not, no problem. Not trying to be nosy or intrude on any space. I am an Accounting Manager for Systemax, Inc. in Port Washington. Rich
 
I'm retired from selling drugs for 32 years (legal ones!)
 
Now I am a medical equipment consultant for construction for the largest HMO in the country. I have been with them since the summer of 2004. Prior to that I was a Surgical Specialist in the USAF for just over 24 years.

In 5 years I hope to join the other BE retirees in FL. :)
 
I'm an account executive at a mid size full service insurance brokerage in queens, doing all types of insurance with a specialty in marine.
 
I'm a Reading Specialist, retired from secondary education in 2003 (after 36 years) and presently an Adjunct Professor of Reading at Suffolk County Community College (since 2004).
 
Teacher, Ass't Principal, Principal, Director of Technology, now Director of Data Management. 3 years in one district, last 33 in Liverpool Central Schools, Liverpool, NY. Just announced retirement for this June. :-) I anticipate having to make daily decisions between golf, fishing, boating and lawn work. When a tie, boating will win!!!
 
Scientific Glassblower (Retired) National Research Council of Canada.
 
Glassblower? That is amazing. We watched some of that being done onboard ship on a cruise we took this summer. I was blown away (couldn't avoid the pun, sorry) by the skill and dexterity of the blowers. My hat's off to you. Hy
 
Currently working on perfecting the Snow bird thing. Prior to this, retired as Chief of Mechanics for the N.Y.C. Dept. Of Sanitation after 36 years.

Lawyer, by trade. Currently Chief Compliance Officer for 3 nursing homes, 2 assisted living facilities and an independent living facility.
 
RETIRED ( and loving it ).......after 30 years as a Union worker.
 
16 years ago started as a helper in a moving company, than driver, foreman, tractor trailer driver, operations manager, regional manger, started my own company, 3 years later merged with another.
Today COO and partner, we employe more than 100 people.

Don't you mean 2 years working and 28 years supervising?

Assembler and COBOL programmer for defense contractor flying on aircraft carriers for 5 years.

VP of IT for mail order drug startup for 2 years.

Director of IT for SAP shop for semiconductor company for 20 years.

Currently a SAP consultant for large consulting firm for 7 years traveling every week.

That's 34 years working and I plan to retire in 4 years and go boating!
 
Dave....that's 30 years after my time clock got reset to zero. I put in 12 years in my other life....with the X
 
14 years old went to work as a bicycle mechanic at Brands in Wantagh. Of course part time, lied about my age and after a year and a half and not being able to produce working papers, was let go.
16 years old, got a job at Bikes Galore in Bellmore, my excellent training at Brands, made me the favorite guy there :)
19 years old, while in college I got a summer temp job with General Electric, I repaired Air Conditioners and developed my first patent. This job lasted till the old age of 21. I made awesome money at GE, great company, but was told to slow down with my repairs. I was a young buck and made the old timers look bad by doing so many calls in a day. I resisted that thought and did not make friends :)
after a few years in college that I paid for myself, I was done with that crap (dumb move in hind site). I was so money driven, that I could not see through the forest. I also did not get retirement plans, 401k stuff and a union position.
Got into telecommunications, after a few months in the industry I was able to land a job with the highest paying company in that industry, "ROLM", I had a special talent and training so they really needed me. I was a dick and abused them, while working for them I opened my own company.
30 + years later, I run and own phone, data, computer company. I do okay, have bought out a major competitor 9 years ago and am in the mist of merging with another company. As mentioned, I have done okay, but could have done much better if I took school seriously :(
 
Thanks for all those that responded so far and all those that will. This has been a very interesting topic. And I appreciate the honesty from everyone. All of our LICC members paths have definitely crossed each other.
