2008's 1st official raft-up?

It was a beautiful day on the river Friday. If it stayed that way all summer I'd be happy. Even the docking breeze (from the southwest) was in my favor. Still lots of boats on the hard though.

I'm hoping to get up to PB this week and hit any spots that need it with some paint and get her washed up and ready to go home. I had planned on doing that this weekend, 'til I remembered it's Passover.
Hope anyone who's out on this beeautiful day is having a great time. You guys at PB, pls. give her a pat for me and tell her I'm coming to get her soon.

Not that I want to rub it in but "What a weekend"....I was wrong Chris, 1st beer was 12:45...Had to stop and buy gas for the car in New Jersey before I could head up to the boat....

What a fantastic weekend, it was like we never had winter. Almost all of B dock was there, Butch performed acrobatics for us all, as did Jimmy!

Filled up the gas tanks, Haverstraw was $3.95.9/gallon. Panco is $4.29.9/gallon - why anyone would go there is beyond me. Pure greed on Panco's part!!!

Buzzed around on Giggity, got more work done on Hogan.

We also had a great weekend on the boat. Nice weather and lots of people to talk to while they were working on their boats trying to get into he water!

Anyone notice the surprising "dumbing down" of the people on the VHF this weekend? Seems not all boaters come equipped with a brain or bother engaging it when hiding behind a microphone.

Yup, great weekend - Splashed Good Grief friday, spent saturday loading, and most of sunday cleaning. I forgot how good that 'post-cleaning' martini tastes while sitting top-side!!

$4.00 gas - good thing we still have 1/2 tank from last year!!

rommer, I know what you mean, there was one guy on a boat named "Francey Free" that kept trying to refer to himself as "Starry Night"!

Butch, I usually get gas after beer...but Jersey IS the place to get gas.

I too had a great weekend on the boat, in between a 1yr old party for a dog Friday evening and a 40yr old party for a friend Saturday evening... I manged to uncover and washed Saturday and waxed the "outside" on Sunday....what a chore that was. Nothing like using a 12' extension ladder to wax the sides...one flaw in Silverton's "sidewalk" design.

I just need some touch up paint and to install new zincs and I hope to go in Saturday afternoon or Sunday Morning. Oh yeah and a strut, shaft and prop (details, details) which according to a voicemail this morning will "definitely" be done by Saturday.

Saturday was an absolutely beautiful day, Sunday was cool but salvagable toward the end. I was hoping an RO would take pity on me and deliver a cold one or two. I was surprised to see no boats over at Croton on Saturday....where were you guys?

We wound up helping other RO's get their boats ready for launching on Saturday. Was going to head out Sunday but the skies just looked too threatening in the morning and by time the sun came out in the afternoon it was just not in the cards to head out.

Well it is now a month since the original post and I still haven't done a raft-up yet... VERY SAD!

Where is the nice weather this year?

With fuel as it is I think they will be dingy raftup's

I've been in Bowline several times looking to raft-up, but no one else was there - we did raft-up with Bobby C out on the river for a few minutes.

First test run was tues. a bit windy but nice to be on the water again. Going out sun. if anyone is around i will raft - up.

Planing on going up to roundout on the 23rd and comming back on the 26th if anyone is interested in heading up river ?

Jon....

Dan , i'll give ya a shout on the raido and keep an eye out for freedom. hope we get a nice memorial day weekend weather wise.
Bernadette and I plan on one night at the city dock , one on the hook. maybe one at Pete bundis marina.Hopefully some others will be heading up - river that weekend too. ? ? ? best whishes all, Jon......

Ok but I usually don't have the radio on. You'll see us at RYB side to the creek on the main dock 2nd from last up stream.

Dan , it will be nice to meet ya & say hi maybe have a beer, lets hope the weather looks better next weekend. Doesn't look like anyone elese here is planing to head up....must be the gas prices or something ?
Any way the cool nights should make for nice sleeping weather on the boat up there usually cooler than here & been chilly here at night .
Take it easy....Jon

Went out yesterday afternoon spotty showers here and there .As usual, only boat pretty much out there after about 7 pm , putted up to cold spring and anchored behind a mega yacht, saw all the fountains cranking back to stony point late in the day with a fast catamaran always cool to watch the fly by. putted back late this afternoon in the rain still fun though.

WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYBODY- like a ghost town out there ........ Jon.

Spent the night on Friday, very strong winds and rain blowing sideways, boats bouncing at the dock.

Went to a Communiun party on Saturday, then back to the boat.

Woke up to sun today, quickly clouded over, left to head home around four, due to the rain. Once we got home, it was sunny again!

I'm working on getting us good weather for next weekend.

Still up at the boat enjoying a quiet evening with the admiral.

Do your best Hogan, we really need a FULL weekend with sun and no wind!
