to answer your question yes I did use caulk. painters caulk and if you keep it cold it is nice and thick when you spread it out. I used a thin plastic cut to the contour i wanted.
after this i painted the female mold and five coats of wax followed by spraying the mold with a releasing agent. the release agent is the only thing that comes in contact with the gelcoat. one thing to remember with your mold of a swimplatform is everything is in reverse
