Rick I admire your tenacity taking on a huge project like this. I love the looks of the sister ship. I'm sure your's will be as good if not better. I'm embarking on a new boating project refitting and upgrading a almost 40 year old trawler. At least it's fiberglass it's actually in really good shape and condition for it's age. I shouldn't have to re-power this one but it will be a major project to get her upgraded to my standards. I'm going backwards I'm losing 4 feet of boat actually a bit more. The Mainship 40SB will be on the market as soon as I close on the Gulfstar 36.

Sounds intriguing Bill. Will we be able to follow your progress on here? I love following refits. You get so much info on how to do things. I must have 50 blogs I follow on refits. They're just or more informative than new builds.

I don't envy all the flairing you are going to do. That's hard work.

Indeed it is Bill but is anything really worth while in life easy? I'm really trying for a decent finish to the boat. If I wanted a 'workboat' I'd be done by now I guess! :D

Sanding fairing compound sucks. Yup it sucks. I know it's called 'Quickfair' but I wish it was called 'Easyfair".

It certainly is hard work I'm not sure if I would go crazy trying to get the below the waterline perfect. I imagine one good grounding could wipe away a decent amount of Fairing?
I can understand wanting to get it close though...

Grounding? Seriously? It'll never happen! [:-bonc01]

That's what I said and 3 years ago I dusted a shaft and 2 props. My wife almost went over the console and out onto the bow but I grabbed the back of her PFD.
I think it eventually happens to everyone except people who don't leave the dock.

What happened by Brockville a few years ago Rick?...lol

Yes it is Walter! :-) The snow was up to the top of the garden shed where the clothesline reel is! *lol*

It's all gone now though. Thankfully.

Ok, bum tooth is out. It was fractured all the way to the bottom of the root. Feeling much better now! Time to get back to friggin' work!

More poo going on the hull. I sanded some I laid down the other day and after 20 minutes it felt like my arms were going to fall off! A lil' outta shape ya think? Yup! I'll pay for it, dearly. If any of you guys have done any large area fairing before and have any tips to share I'd appreciate it.

Same old, same old. Sanding and more sanding. This is my life for the foreseeable future! *sigh*
