Guys, as Rommer will attest, and I know, if this surge is as bad as it looks, plan on not being able to get to your boat if you are not on it. Many folks came up to the Rondout for the last set of storms. They were not able to get on or off their boats for probably a day or so because the water impacted the ramps to the docks so significantly they could not be accessed.
If you are not going to be on your boat, make sure the lines have chaffe protection at both ends, and enough slack to handle the surge, but not so much they can flop around in the wind. It's a very tough call and why folks like Pascal will stick it out. Believe me down here in Stuart on the St Lucie River, I had to slide down the lines and jump to the dock to adjust them and I am 6'4". Our Marquipt stairs were useless because they were falling in between the dock and boat. We were too high and too far away from the boat for them to be useful. Deb did not get off the boat for 5 days.
Once this gig gets going, don't plan on being able to access your boat.
Been there done that, and it sucks. Be ready. Hopefully it isn't this bad but this one has too much going into shutting down NYC.
