Hurricane Sandy

If we get 8 ft of water Stony Point and Haverstraw will all be under water. And all marinas will be gone. It would then rise above the pylons and all boats will be floating.

I feel better that we were hauled our today by Mike, Jim, and Gene. Many thanks to Pasty's Bay for hauling and blocking us. Thanks for giving us a call. YOU GUYS ROCK!

Many THANKS to my WONDERFUL WIFE ILENE for helping to decommission the boat on Friday, cleaning and prepping the garage on Saturday, and then moving and decommissioning the boat all day on Sunday. She is a true Admiral! We are exhausted!

Spent weekend moving boats jet skies and trucks to my house. Then we moved the Caryl-d to Minnesceongo and helped other pbm'ers move there boats as well. Then stopped at marina and the boys helped out there. All we can do is hope for the best and stay safe. Oh, forgot the most important thing. Filled the frig with liquid beverages so we are good to go!

We removed all but three frigging sail boats from our marina. Sure wish those last three would have hauled. Not sure why they didn't, this storm was very well predicted and Wednesday is the last possible day. I worked at the club (CYC, a working club) pulling boats all day Saturday. Others were there all day Sunday. It impresses me just how selfish some people can be, they wait until the last minute then expect you to drop everything to help with their personal crisis. I sure hope the remaining boats don't damage our docks or more importantly, the electric and water systems as I personally am responsible and would have to repair.

Best of luck everyone...I'm on land, removed all canvas and upholstery from boat, left her naked with no plugs in. I predict a 6' surge before my engines are under water. Lets hope that doesn't happen to me or anyone here.

You all stay safe. There is nothing worth risking your health or well-being over. Protect your families and let the insurance companies straighten it all out after Sandy's passing.

Beach Road is flooded, Grassy Point Road flooded and closed at the Penny Bridge. The high tide tonight will be much worse. Nothing to do now but wait it out.

Two thumbs up for all the guys at Patys's Bay they are doing all they can to haul out as many boats as they can for as long as they can.

I think we are all in trouble if the surge comes in anywhere as close as they predict the damage will be out of control!

Good luck to all!!

Can't believe those guys were still out there pulling boats out of the water at Patsy's. I'll be back this evening to see how high the water gets. Tomorrow's surge is supposed to be the big one.

If anyone is down there, grab some pics of the area and post them. I'm interested to see how bad it gets, but unfortunately I'll be at work straight through till probably Wednesday.

Just left the area and we are closer to low then high and SPBM sea wall is mostly under water. You can not get to Penny Bridge or Minesiengo. I doubt Haverstraw will be accessible once tides come in as the river creeks will close the roads down. I'm going to try to get up there early in the morning befor high tide comes back but I suspect they will not allow access to Haverstraw marina as you will wind up getting trapped in once tide rises.

Dave, here's what it looks like from the side.

You Guys stay safe. If you havn't got it done by now it won't be happening.
This thing is huge and people don't realize the effect.
Low Pressure is historic at 940 mb. The cloud shield reaches Green Bay Wis.
The rain bands strech all the way to Toronto.
Here, east of Toronto we have 55 mph winds forcast from the north tonight
rushing to the center and we aren't even in the wind shield yet.

Just stay safe and check in when you can.

It's speeding up, which is good. Supposed to make landfall at 5 PM. Our high tide is 11 PM, they say the worst will be over by 10PM. It doesn't look like much water is going out on this low tide, which is not good.

It is a 90 mph hurricane travelling at 3o mph.
his means 60 mph winds on the south side and 120 mph winds to the north.
not a good thing.

Hank sent me this one SPBM at near low tide. Over the sea wall at low tide? Can you say screwed.

It will slow way down when it hits land, all forecasts I see show lower winds now than they did this morning. For us, the max is now 57, down from 67.
