Spring Boaters Fling

I'm to lazy to check all the posts, so I will ask. Did anyone contact the marina to see if we could reserve to docks?
 
Towcapt - if you are working, we will just have to call in for a tow - somewhere around Marina West...

dvan - you are right - there needs to be a reservation for sure! I count at least 10 boats right now - I will call Village West and make sure someone has called, and if not, make the reservation.

I have a bad feeling that I won't be getting FlyWright seaworthy by the time the Spring Fling rolls around, but I'll be there by car if not by boat.
 
Although I can't guarantee it, I'm going to try my best to be there as well and will be coming by boat too. I don't think the family will be interested and I'll be coming from Willow Berm Al, you can probably jump on board and take a ride down with me. I'll have an extra berth too. You'll haver to stay on a Californian though ;-)

That sounds great Al! I'd like to take a look at your boat sometime; I've never spent any real amount of time on one of their LRC's. I've checked out the newer 45's and the 39 (which I think is a really roomy boat for 39') but when we were looking, we wanted more speed and didn't really look at the trawler line. Hope you get FlyWright up and running.
 
Hi all,
I made a reservation at Village West for "about" 12 boats, 20-42', friday March 27-29 under the name of the "BoatersEd Club" - you need a club name - and it seemed appropriate. I told them we would likley do dinner one night at the resturant and one night as a pot-luck. As we get a little closer, we should book the resturant with a good head count.

If anyone needs me, I'm at 775-721-0851 and Village West office is 209-951-1551.

I like the idea of heading as a group, maybe two, from our direction. One group fast, one group trawler speed. I'm in the slow group. Maybe we meet around Pirates Lair area where the rivers meet and do a nice cruise. We should check tides to see the best time to head out.

Jim, Thanks for making the arrangments. The dinners sounds good, been a while since we've eaten at Garlic Bros. We will probably meet you there, we will be coming from Ladds.
 
For the folks thinking of leaving from the Loop area, i just checked tide tables for prisoners point, which is on the San Joaquin close to Hiltons place, and not from we are talking about meeting. On Friday, low is 2pm so if we meet at 3 or so around the pirates lair area, (where the Moke meets the San Joaquin) we will have the tides in our favor. I have never gone that far in this boat, only in my fast one, so I don't know how long it takes. On Sunday, high tide is about 6 am so if we leave by 9 or 10, we will still have the river to help us home. Not bad, the tides are cooperating with the plan!

Hey, I just joined the San Joaquin US Power Squadron today! Really great bunch of people - any of you folks members?

Thanks for setting this up for everyone, Jim. A Georgianna/Moke/SJ cruise fleet sounds like a lot of fun. It's looking like this will be a fun and memorable weekend!

Thanks for making a reservation. If you happen to talk to them again, could you please let them know that there will be on 48 footer coming as well.
 
I just heard from my slip neighbor and neighborette, Dan and Tina, who have a Sea Ray AC360, 36 ft aft cabin. They will also be able to join us. So I'll add Deja View Again to the list.

Dan and Tina, it's great that you two will be able to join the party! (Dan will be posting here as soon as Les processes his sign in and shows them the double secret handshake.)

I'll be happy to organize a group cruising from the Bethel Island area. Since it is likely to be windy that time of year, I plan to head from BI along Sandmound to Irish Pt, then east along the south side of Mandeville, joining the SJ Channel at Lost Isle. This route is very protected especially with the incoming tides. Maybe we could time things so that we join the Loop Group in the Channel and arrive at the marina en mass.

Any takers?
 
Comfortably - my membership for the USPS is in process so I will be a member soon. I took the safety class in the fall of 07, and am looking forward to joining. I'm not sure how fast you're traveling, but I can get from Village West to the Riverboat in about 25 mins going 30-35 mph.

Put me down for attending one of the meals. I'll have to see which night works better as the date gets closer. I'll have the shortest trip of anybody since my boat is on a lift about 200' from Garlic Brothers.

Sounds like a good timing plan, Jim. I'll be checking my work schedule to see when I can break free for the cruise. Is anyone in favor of meeting at the Riverboat Restaurant docks for the rendezvous? It's the first marina/restaurant upstream from Korth's on the Moke.

There should be plenty of spots open midday on a Friday in March so early arrivals can tie up while waiting for the straglers. The website calendar shows that the restaurant opens up for weekends starting on the 14th.
 
River boat sounds like a great idea - lots of dock space and just around the corner from the big river!
I will call and mention a 48 (if I get a tour of the boat, that is) to VW - they have quiet a bit of dock space so it should not be a problem as long as we-all reserve a big enough slot! That a great size boat, wow!

I also sent Gnarley an email telling him to get on board (pun intended) and join the fun so he migh be along as well.

Sounds like a great outing in the making!

I think your suggestion is a bit too late. We have all pretty much decided on VWM for this gathering. Maybe a futre gathering can be at Moore's. I hope you can still make it!

Jim, since the boat slaes dockage is not being used, I'm sure a 5o footer will not be a problem. But it is a good idea to notify VWM!

We're looking foward to meeting up with the group on 28/29. I haven't made reservations yet due to a tentative work schedule but we'll boat in if the weekend is open. I should know more in another two weeks.

Liz, I was responding to Jim's post about the "Loop Groop" rendezvous point for the trip to VWM. I should have been more clear. We'll see you there at VWM!!

To the Loop Groopers, one thing to keep in mind when approaching the Riverboat docks at low tide is the shoal off the face of the docks. It can get pretty shallow in the center, but is better along the sides.
