Marinas

Julian,

You will have fun here and you will also get use to going through the party gauntlet on the beginning of "C" dock. Chuck, Rick and that Larry guy are always causing trouble. :)

Hi Mike,

How long of a drive from my house to Skipjack Cove? Someday, I want to graduate from a trailerboat to a cruiser and have a place to get away for the weekends.

Bob,
1 hour and 45 minutes on a good day. We used to go down on Friday afternoon and stay until Monday morning.

We called Skipjack today and changed ourslip form C30 to C41. seemed better for us to keep our bow toward the river and sun. were excited about meeting everyone

Julian,

You will have a better view and you will be thankful that your cockpit is in the shade!!! But its a long walk down that dock..... make many friends and you'll be offered adult beverages about a half dozen times during the trek so its no all bad. The operator of the local Sea Tow franchise will be you dockmate as well.

well would you advise I get a slip closer to the main dock... she has some in the lower #s.

Im still a bit torn though about Greatoak Landing though... Seems like a fun place and closer to big destinations... but I guess Skipjack works best for us....I hope?

I wish slips were that available on the west side. We got a call today from Podickory Point Marina, where the boat has been for the winter, and a surprise to them that everyone signed their agreemwnt for 08, and there is no room in the inn. We had planned on being there for this yr. and now the search begins. We gave up our slip at ALM for the Broker to move the boat, and now I guess will look more towards the Balt. area.
Anyone know anything about the Inner Harbor Marina,,,by the Rusty Scupper, that was recently refurbished?

Mike,

Captain Gary’s slip is actually a little further down. I believe C41 is the slip where the sailboat gentleman had his accident.

Oh! Sorry 'bout that. I thought C41 was pretty close to the T Head.

C41 is at the end of C dock. I believe it it 6 or 7 spots from the last slip on C dock

C41 is two down from me and about 10 or slips from the very end.

Seems like a long ass walk with 3 kids... I am going to have to call her today... should I take 3 5 or 19?

You have probably made up your mind by now,I just want to give you another perspective. We have been to both locations you are speaking of and both offer a great deal. Each has its pros and cons. the sassafrass is far away from most everything and with the price of gas you will be burning more fuel to get to destinations. If you stay in the river then you will be fine. At GO you are in the middle of no-where. It is a drive to even go to the store. But it is a great destination for a weekend. Plenty of partying and things to do at the marina. I want to throw out something a little different. You may want to drive a little further south on rte. 301 and go to Kent Narrows. Mears Point Marina has everything you are looking for and is close to everything. Annapolis, Baltimore, Rock Hall, St. Mikes. and many other destinations are close. Great restaurants on premise and within walking distance to the marina. You have several large rivers within a short distance to anchor out and all are some of the best on the bay. There are people of all ages and the kids would have a ball.
Just thought I would throw that out.

We have been there many times with our smaller boat... we trailered down. It is a 3 hour drive for us and it just seems a bit too far. Ever been to Jellyfish Joels? The guy from there is trying real hard to get us to go there... this is our 1st year at a marina and im about to toss a coin.
Marylou has been great at Skipjack. I called her and she moved my slip to C5 with no questions asked...
For some reason Great oak still reels me in and im not 100% on Skip Jack. But the contract is in the mail to me and I have to **** or get off the pot...lol

Julian,

I would not take C3 or C5. C3 is one over from the main walkway. Lots of noise and lots of traffic. Those carts make a racket bouncing up and down the wood dock. C5 has a very early morning hangout area along with loud people talking. Language and young children don't mix.

Ah, yeah, I know the people that C speaks of... and he is correct. We were in C7 for 5 years.

Ok... I think Maryjo is going to kill me. I switched my spot 2 times today,,lol
I am now locked in at C19. Contract is on its way. I dont go to settlement for our new boat till Saturday....but at least I have a slip...

What ever you decide you will be fine. As a first timer in a marina it will be a great experience no matter where you go. We usually hit GO on our annual trip for a day or 2. It is a great party atmosphere. People are friendly but it is in the middle of nowhere for miles. It is fun sitting at Jellyfish Joels on the beach sipping on anything cold, listening to the band and watching all of the boats try and handle the channel coming in. It is quite a show at times. By boat you are semi close to alot of places. Depending on where your slip is it can be quite a walk to the pool or rest. If you are on the other side it is quite a walk to Jellyfish joels. The rest. is not one of our favorites, poor service and pricey for what it offers. Jelly offers burgers and sandwiches on the beach.
Good luck whatever you decide.
