Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

Allen, the "latch" is a step.

Odvar, looks like a 30 amp cord, don't you have 50 amp?

Oh, so there is a step over the fresh water on the prt side and a secondary step over that hatch on the starboard side? Nice. It always been a problem getting up to the bow especially for my wifey and the kids. Odvar are theses steps custom made?
Also can you post a link to where you bought the wood veneer and the molding you used for the master stateroom floor? Please.

I really like what you did with the trunk lid. I have been thinking about doing the same thing. I just needed a picture to be able to show someone. I also like the steps. Much better than stepping up on the cleats like I do now.

I made the trunk lid. Yes the gally was the wood type with the sunken "counter" I also covered up the recess outside over the bar, fridge and icemaker. The little hatch out back is like a glove box for my BBQ stuff. The Arch is original. Sharp eyes, 30 amp since that is all the dock has, but I have 50. One step, the folding one on stb was ground down some since it is mounted on a slope

Can you post pix of those areas? What material did you use for the galley countertop?

I'll bet you'd get orders from all of us if you wanted to make more of those trunk lids! I know I'd like one.

me too :) my dad always said it is the best spot on the boat to sit at.

I think the lid looks great but I also like the look of the rounded lid. I removed mine and had it refinished a couple of years ago so it looks great or at least like new.

The lid, I have to confess I took the easy way, it's plywood added to the original to make the seat, fiberglass overlay and polyurethan paint tinted to the gelcoat.
Kirkland vodka, sure it's good (for the $) and Kirkland is my neighbor city, Costco.
The gally top and in the heads are made from 1/2" granit tile 24x30 with polished edges.Saw them at Home depot the other day.
Just put a small motion activated led light in the fridge, works great. I hope you guys have mounted real lights in the engine room, my small 12V did not do anything, now it's easy to look for problems and to work there. Kitchen undercabinet lights work well.

I put LED bulbs in my engine room, I get much more light, and if I leave them on, they don't drain the battery.

Odvar,

Can you tell me where you got the chrome lettering from? How is it affixed? How well has it held up for you? Looks great!

Thanks,

Jim

Time for me to get to work my waste line showed up today! 50' of Sealand odor safe plus not cheat but it should do the trick.

I need o get back at it too. I had to work last weekend, I will be watching the race Sunday and am heading to CA next weekend for a week. After that though I will be on it every weekend.

What would it cost me to get one of you guys with a 98 to send me a copy of your owners manual? I am starting to think that possible my boat was an in between model. Mostly like the 1996 at least molds wise. But much of the rest from the 98 model. It may help me figure out the wiring diagram among other things.

It looks like I have one of the centerline waste tanks from the 1996 and the single centerline water tank from 98.

Allen - where are your vacuflush units? Mine are both under the forward most hatch.

Was on the boat today, got the owners manual but I think you will not find what you are looking for. It has 9 sections of which none have the wiring diagram, electric or much of anything else:
1. Boating safety 2. Powering the 12 volt battery system 3. Shore power/generator power 4. Powering the internal systems 5. Powering the engines 6. Operating and maneuvering 7. Maintenance 8. Winterizing the boat 9. Warranty parts information.
Not too much to learn from.

Well I got started today seems like such a shame to pull up such nice carpet but it came out fairly easily and will return as soon as I'm done.

The carpet and all interior upholstery was replaced just before I bought the boat and it's still in like new condition.

I removed the carpet stairs and floor boards to get access to the waste lines, this should be a fun project NOT.

As I have stated in the past I have a very different setup then most if not all of the other Trojans at least on this forum. I have two waste tanks in the center line of the boat.

Each head has it's own tank this provides for a 100 gallons of waste. When I pump out I have to flip a valve to pump out both tanks one at a time.

I'm looking forward to completing the project and then pulling the cover and getting to work on the clean up. I found myself doing a little cleaning in the cockpit while I was on board today. I'm really starting to get the itch for Spring, good thing it's around the corner!
